Sorry ....some articles get too long .
But I'll be curious to see the results when they check a new FWD hybrid ....

I'm not sure there will be much difference between AWD vs FWD. The AWD would have better traction but weigh more.

Car & Driver instrumented test of the 2025 Maverick hybrid

First time I've seen acceleration test on an AWD hybrid and I'm surprised at the numbers. 0-60 in 6.7 seconds, 1/4 mile in 15.3 at 90 MPH. It feels quick for 191 hp, but the electric torque assist and stepless eCVT makes it tough to gauge performance by the seat of the pants vs other cars.

Ford says a lot of Maverick buyers are converting from compact cars and SUVs like Civics, Rav4s, etc. Comparing the numbers to a Civic Si with the 6 speed stick shift, the 900 pound heavier Maverick is just a hair slower (0.1s to 60, 0.4s in the quarter mile), and it gets better fuel economy.

Compared to the 2024 Rav4, the Maverick is a lot cheaper, way faster 0-60 and in the quarter mile, and gets much better fuel economy.
I converted from a 2005 Ford Escape. Very similar drive train. I liked it.

So the new hybrid is 8/10th’s slower to 60 and to the quarter than the ecoboost is. Not horrible. And it’s better than it used to be.

On the RAV4, it is not way more expensive than the Maverick. They start at $28,850. And if you get the rav4 prime, the one that IS way more expensive ($44,565) than the Maverick, it is also 300 hp, 0-60 in 5.5 sec and 1/4 mile in 14.0 sec.

What changed so much ?
Wasn't the original hybrid around seven and a half seconds 0-60 ?
Transmission and traction. New Transmission has larger electric motors and 3.37 gearing instead of 2.91. Huge difference, and no tire spinning.

I've had my 2025 Hybrid for 3 weeks. It's not going to when any races. But it has plenty of acceleration for my needs. I live in a large metro area and spend a fair amount of time on freeways. I have plenty of zip for merges and passing folks who insist on only doing 70 in the left lane.

For those quick bursts, like when passing, my Maverick is a lot snappier than the Silverado I was driving. I'm not sure "snappier" is the right word, but the difference is noticeable in a good way.

Motor Week tested the 2025 AWD Hybrid a few weeks ago and ran the same times. The 2022 AWD Lariat 2.0 EB Maverick they tested when the Maverick came out ran 6.2 0-60 and 14.8@93 mph in the 1/4 mile.
Both are quite quick. Breaking 15 is something, but the hybrid is definitely no slouch. I didn't expect it to be that fast, frankly.

My F-150 with a tune was a bit faster than my 2.0 EB but not that much quicker. Impressive performance form both setups.

Frankly, I'm surprised that they don't offer the 1.5 EB option also, as a base engine. Slower than both options, but it seems to be a pretty solid engine, based on my experience with my previous Escape.

I would say most of us are more concerned about how well the Maverick hybrid can accelerate onto a freeway, pass a semi, or power out of a dangerous situation than the numbers . . . although, I'm grateful for knowing those stats are pretty good for a 191 hp truck. Faced with the situations I mentioned, the Maverick does a pretty good job thanks to the eCVT and the electric motor that propels the Maverick like an electric slot car. Very satisfied with the power of the hybrid.

😂
I didn't really state it clearly in the original post, but what really impresses me is that you get stellar fuel economy” and more power baby!!!
Your post was great & I was being 😜

The Maverick Hybrid is quick - many reviewers have been very surprised and impressed with the acceleration when giving her the beans.

Someday, if they build a Hybrid “Lobo” with paddle shifting, I will seriously consider a trade in! I can start getting 30mpg instead of the 20 I’m now getting.

It feels quick for 191 hp
Because 191hp isn't what you feel. It is the instantaneous torque from the HF55's MG2 or drive motor.

For 2025 and the HF55 transaxle that has been increased to 236 lb ft of torque - available immediately at 0 RPM.

Everyone getting hung up on the 191 hp combined rating simply don't understand what makes you go in an engine.

Do you realize how much your MPG will plummet and your miles to empty will be compromised if you do a 6.7sec zero to sixty? Lordy.
Sport Mode? C’mon, stop it.
Yep. They'll plummet. But most of us only do full throttle acceleration on occasion. So it's no big deal

Very impressive. Would love to see them do a comparison between the old 2.0 (22-24) vs a '25 MPC 2.0. Also would be interesting to run a lobo with the 7 speed against a non-lobo '25 2.0.
does the lobo have a different transmission the rest of the 2.0 lineup? if it does is it rated for more herspers ?

Why did these magazines not test the 25's last year? Why only once 25 production stopped? Did for place an embargo on media so they could clear the lots of unsold 24's so people would not realize how good the 25 hybrids were? Interesting.
