Deciding what is next ; Keep or sell?

I’ve got a 2023 XLT EcoBoost with the 4K tow package and Rhino bedliner. It’s coming up on the 3 year warranty in about 60 days, and I’m debating whether to keep it or move on.

It’s basically a garage queen, only 7,600 miles total, and about 1,500 of that was the drive home when I bought it.

So far it’s been easy, just two oil changes and zero issues.

From what I’m seeing, it looks like it might be in the upper 20s value wise down here in SW Florida because of the low miles, which has me thinking even more about selling while it still checks all the boxes.

Curious what others are seeing for long term reliability on these. I’m not a fan of hanging onto vehicles that turn into maintenance headaches once they’re out of warranty.

Would you keep it or sell while it’s still low miles and under warranty? If I decide to keep it, I'm open to recommendations on Ford Warranty, best pricing.

You'll have to figure if the cost of buying a new vehicle will be cheaper than keeping your fairly "new" Maverick. Off the top of my head, I'd say it would be much cheaper to keep your Maverick and go with an extended warranty. The ECOs seem to have less issues than the hybrids. I for one, have no intention of parting from my 2022 hybrid due in part to all the modification I made to make it uniquely personal. Money and time not to be earned back.

And Your main concern is getting a big $$$ return in selling..
Then, Go for It..

I personally, keep mine until the wheels fall off. (and it did happen, after 13 years.).
I have had GOOD LUCK with ALL my past Fords. (Three Rangers and one F-100).
With any expenses coming after the 9th -10th years of ownership..

It is way too early to judge the long term reliability of a 4 year old model. Maybe in 10 years you’ll have useful data? Short term reliability so far is mixed…

What are you eyeing as a potential new Garage Queen if I may ask?

Mine has become a Garage Queen as well partially due to the high cost of gas! I refuse to pay over $4 per gallon!! My Wife keeps saying we need to sell the Truck but as long as I keep doing projects around the house I intend to keep it and have no desire to buy anything else.

You will end up spending 10K or 15K switching vehicles to avoid a potential repair that may never come - not to mention I think you could replace a motor in one of these for less then what it will cost you to switch vehicles......

But if its just an extra vehicle that you have sitting around hence why its a garage queen that never gets used.....sell it

insurance registration insurance - take the money and invest it rather then letting a depreciating asset sit around in your garage not getting used

Your truck is still brand new in terms of mileage, what are you worried about? Most of the people with EB issues are related to the transmission, but that didn't start showing up until they were in the 60-100k mile range, and my guess is those people skipped changing the transmission fluid. You've got many years left as long as you keep up with regular maintenance and don't let it sit too much.

That said, if the Maverick is just an extra vehicle you don't really need, might as well sell it.

Yup, hoping our maverick holds up as good as our 16 year old dodges. I also have a 54 year old Plymouth.

New 26’ XL is about 30K

I don’t think you’ll get 26k for yours but who knows.
I have 16k completely trouble free miles on my 25.

I think your truck is still almost brand new but it sounds like you want piece of mind.

gotta ask yourself if you even need one really? Are you in need of the money? If not you’ll just spruce up your next car. Quite the problem we face sometimes. I say keep it and run the tires off it .

If you need it and it would be replaced, smart money says keep it and buy a warranty from Granger if it gives you piece of mind. If you just want a new vehicle and can afford it, then admit that and get it. I have learned to accept that not all my decisions are the absolute best financial decisions, but they won't change my life or reduce my chances of a successful retirement.

My Dad was a Chrysler/Plymouth guy. When I was a kid he bought a brand new Fury III.
