Managed to get an 2023 XLT ordered on the last day, did a little more sleuthing and decided that Lariat will fit my needs better but the dealer is saying he "probably won't be able to alter your order - once it's in it's in."

Just curious if anyone else has run into this and how you managed to resolve with your dealer?

I believe that has been stated from several sources. After the book closes you cannot change the PEP code or the engine type.

Trim (XL, XLT, Lariat) & FWD/AWD/*AAWD (Tremor package) cannot be changed. EcoBoost to Hybrid cannot be changed. Hybrid to EcoBoost cannot currently be changed, but due to the severe constraint on Hybrid (35%) and the rumored number of orders (60+%), that may change.

* You may be able to remove the Tremor package, but you will not be able to add it.

Any of the add-ons, including LUX packages, can be changed at will up until either a VIN is assigned (Scheduled) or that item closes out.

The only changes you cannot make (for now) are the body and PEP codes. It remains to been seen if you can change a 2.5L engine to a 2.0T and retain the original order date.

I read somewhere recently that your trim level choice and engine choice are locked in, so you're probably SOL on that.

On the other paw, maybe you could find someone with a Lariat that changed their minds, and arrange to do a like for like swap?

That person wouldn't be me, but you never know!

I made changes to mine after my order was in. My dealer noted as long as the change isn't changing trim level or engine/drivetrain configuration, its 'open season' until it gets a VIN for everything else.

Fwiw, I went back and forth between xlt and lariat and originally filled out the paperwork at the dealer on Saturday for a lariat because I thought it would have lane centering and ahead traffic speed control. After looking at what I ordered, I realized I needed to get the luxury with cp360 assist and I couldn’t talk myself up. I went back in on Tuesday and was able to change it to an xlt. I think I will like the xlt with 2.0 awd 4k. I am guessing you like the interior and the cp360 full package in the lariat? The seats are much nicer as well.
