I don't know where you folks are getting your info but my manual shows that for my ecoboost 2.0 shows that 5w-30 Synthetic blend is what is specified. Page 348.. If you click on either set of numbers for US and plug them in it brings up Ford Premium synthetic blend.
OP has a hybrid

Find a better dealer, those guys are full of themselves and DGAF

My closest dealer wanted 2x list price for the PTU and the RDU plugs. They probably double prices on all small parts, and overprice everything else. Also wanted $25 for an oil filter, those crooks ... good thing I checked with other local dealers before ordering the parts ... I'm glad I didn't buy the truck there and I'm NEVER going there for any part or service. Also telling everyone I know not to go there

You got the ecoboost. Hybrids are full synthetic 0W-20.

From the manual:
Motorcraft® SAE 0W-20 Full Synthetic Motor WSS-M2C962-A1
Oil(U.S.)
(Canada)
XO-0W20-QFS(U.S.)

I don't know where folks are missing the info that the manual shows that there is an ecoboost and hybrid versions of the Maverick.

Actually - I do know. Because I'd sure hope at this point all owners know there are 2 versions.
And some info obviously is different for many reasons.

Either the poster has no tag line that shows useful info like year/trim/version/major option.
Or MTC is being viewed on a mobile phone in portrait mode and therefore the potentially simple but still mighty useful profile info isn't shown.
Landscape mode may show it.

ETA: after post below - ok, some people post before reading all available info easily before them.

There’s a description of the vehicle on the left and also in the text of my first post.

This could be a single lazy tech who decided to what he saw as the minimum necessary vs the maintenance you requested, or an indicator of a dealership that values maximizing profits and throughput of vehicles through the service bays. Who knows.

What you share smells like an overqualified tech who was asked to perform the maintenance on your truck likely because he wasn't busy and/or the boss had already sent the lube guy home.

Personally I'd sit down with the service manager, go over your receipt and ask for an explanation. If the conversation centers around the maintenance "we recommend" with zero reference to Ford's recommendations. I'd go elsewhere.

A good service department is going to say "that shouldn't have happened" and either refund what you paid or offer a complimentary service next time.

spoke to the service manager. He says they never check for safety recalls when doing oil changes. He says that it's too many screens to click on and too many hoops to jump through.
Full stop. I'd never set foot in this service department again. What benefit does going to the trouble and expense of going to the dealer provide when they are delivering JiffyLube level service.

They are primarily focused on pushing vehicles through there and could give a rats ass about them.

If you bought it there, I'd let the sales manager know you are going elsewhere for service, and for any new vehicle purchases and this is why.

it was first thing in the morning. I did speak to the service manager. He indicated to me everything was proper and that’s how they do it. (Too bad). He also said ford doesn’t say to follow the oil life monitoring system to monitor your oil’s life.

My personal policy has been to never have the dealer do anything on my vehicle outside of covered warranty work. I just don’t trust them and they overcharge. I do all maintenance myself, log it all and save receipts.

Why o why can’t people look at the manual that comes with their vehicle??? Instead of “Ya know what I seen on you tube?” Or “My buddy told me he heard……

We have a Toyota dealership close by that many years ago started getting competitive on their pricing for maintenance items and other things, then started advertising for any vehicles. Even parts is pretty competitive.
You'll see all kinds of makes in their parking area for work now.
I guess Toyota's weren't breaking down enough to keep them busy on that side.
I wonder if that's still the case...

Hi everyone.

I brought my 2.5L AWD Hybrid (2025) in for an oil change at my local ford dealer at 8000km (5000miles) and they argued with me that semi-synth was the oil to use when I knew it was full synth. I insisted that they use the correct oil and they did so begrudgingly.

Now, I bring it in for its 16,000km service (10,000 miles). This time I bring my own oil and filter because, frankly, I don't trust them to use the right stuff. However, I pay for "the works" service with customer provided oil/filter.

When I pick the truck up and get home, I see that they didn't rotate the tires, noting it was "not needed." At 16,000km without a rotation? That would mean when I bring it in for 24,000km it would get its first tire rotation? Doesn't that seem extremely long?

Further, It seems they didn't inspect the brakes, e-brake etc.

The service schedule for this truck says:
"Here's what happens at your 16,000km checkup:

-inspect brake pads, shoes, rotors, drums, brake linings, hoses and parking brake.
-inspect engine cooling system

etc etc etc"

They didn't even do the first line item. Their reasoning? Well, a tire rotation wasn't needed so they didn't take the tires off so couldn't inspect the brakes...

Also, the truck went in with tire pressure of 35psi (which is what's on the door jam) but left with 33psi so it seems they let air out of my tires for some reason.

There is an active safety recall on this truck and they didn't let me know about it.

What are everyone's thoughts on this? I'm inclined not to trust this dealer for service but everyone tells me that every other dealer in the Edmonton area is even less trust worthy and that this is the best one.

Should I be avoiding Ford for all service? Is this totally normal and I'm just over-reacting?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Trust but verify. Ask questions and tell them you're inspecting it afterwards. Save the old parts. That reminds me, anyone need a front left fender?

Well anyway, I’ll be taking the truck up north 56.2167 degrees north (-118.8333 I think) for about a week chasing moose and elk. We’ll see how she does!

I’ll be crossing through the peace river valley so hopefully the brakes are good!

Many never open the manual. I have a brother in law, a retired petroleum engineer, has never worked in any other job his entire life, except at a refinery out of college. Thinks he is smart and he is, as long as it is the periodic table or anything petro. Can't screw a nut on a bolt in front of his face and insists no reason to read a silly car manual. Drove his SUV clear across the United States once with the rear window slightly lowered, (unknown to him), snowstorms gunking up the rear window. This caused rear wiper not to work (a safety feature to make sure you don't destroy the entire wiper assembly on the rear glass). Called me when he got home, "the rear wiper is a piece of junk, doesn't work" must be a fuse he surmised. I fixed it in 3 seconds by rolling rear window up the last 1/4 inch. Never stopped to read what could be the problem. I have worked on countless vehicles, where the owner manual is still in the plastic protector, never opened. I guess they are smarter than I am. (ha ha ha) Even today after two years with the Mav, I still occasionally will need to look something up.

This always confused me does Ford want the tires at 35 after warming up, if you set tires at 35 cold their going to be 37/38 after driving a while sometimes after 10/15 min, if that's the case the Tech that set your tires at 33 was correct. I was having MPG problems was advised by a tech on the channel to raise my tire pressure, I set my tires at 39 WARM, for the first time I was getting 40 and more MPG.
Before warmup.
Of course they mention nothing about getting up after sun's up, and 2 tires on one side in the sun and 2-3 PSI higher easily.

Link for Inflating gives math on fact if you have to drive to add some air, you just changed the pressure. Convoluted.

And every day! ya right.
For my after fillup check I'll add extra pressure with final drive at night, next morning I'll release pressure until down to what I want. That way despite gauge giving 0.5 accuracy, I can release air until they all truly match. If the sunlight isn't hitting 2 tires.

Good point about tech probably from Jiffy Lube - but at least probably there to expand their ability into repairs.

CHECKING THE TIRE PRESSURES

Safe operation of your vehicle requires that your tires are properly inflated. Every day before you drive, check your tires.
At least once a month and before long trips, inspect each tire and check the tire pressure with a tire gauge. Inflate all tires to the recommended inflation pressure. See Inflating the Tires.
