I wouldn't argue with them. I'd just quietly find a better shop, even if it's not a dealer.

Yes, that’s the plan now that I’ve given them a chance to address it and they failed. It’s a shame because my wife also just bought a 2025 Ford escape hybrid and would have used that same dealership too. They don’t know it but they burned two customers today. Then again, maybe they don’t want customers who insisted that the work is actually completed. Who knows.I wouldn't argue with them. I'd just quietly find a better shop, even if it's not a dealer.
When I took my 22 in for quick lane oil changes , my service advisor always brought up recalls and such. Tire rotation and fluid, brake, tire checks always included, just as The Works is advertised..OK.
I called Zender Ford and spoke to the service manager. He says they never check for safety recalls when doing oil changes. He says that it's too many screens to click on and too many hoops to jump through. My last was a Toyota and they always managed to do it. His response: yeah, that's not something we do.
When I asked why the tires weren't rotated he said that they didn't need it (at 16k). I told him that if I followed the oil life monitor, my next oil change would be at about 32k and he said never to follow the OLM and that they're every 8km. I told him that ford says to follow their OLM, that's what it's there for. He says "Ford doesn't say that. It's every 8k".
When I asked him why no brake check was done, he said that there was no brake check done because there was no tire rotation so they couldn't access the brakes. I asked why, when it's up on the lift anyway, they couldn't remove the tires to check the brakes as required at the 16k service. He responded again that because there was no tire rotation.
I said it sounded like he was just giving a bunch of excuses for not completing the work to which he responded "I'm not giving you excuses: I'm just telling you why."
I then ended the call.

Yup. Sounds like you have discovered that Zender Ford is not the most trustworthy place to have work done on your vehicles.Zender Ford in Spruce Grove Alberta.
that guy is a ..pardon my French...an absolute asshole when it comes to his lame excuse about not checking the brakes, I'm sure you did your best to keep your composure but I would have been all over his moronic statement about how they don't check them since the wheels weren't off since they felt that they didn't need to be rotated. That would be like a heart doctor not doing an EKG on you because he didn't want to wrinkle your shirt. They should have at least given you a discount on that packaged 'service' as 2 of the primary bulletpoints didn't happen, the package doesn't say 'we're charging you 80 bucks if we choose to rotate the tires and choose to look at the brakes or not'. I would absolutely have not left without (1) a partial refund (2) a promise to them that I'd be contacting Ford letting them know what kind of idiots they are and (3) I'd be speaking to the actual dealer as to what kind of BS they're pulling over there. I'm mad enough about this and I'm 2000 miles away from where you are and I have no skin in the game.OK.

I've been driving for 50 years and I have never rotated tires on any vehicle i have owned. I currently own 4 vehicles, if you look at the front and rear tires on them the wear is all the same. My 16 year old ram still has the factory firestones on that haver never been rotated in almost 40,000 miles. Iam surprised they didnt try to sell you a brake job though.Hi everyone.
I brought my 2.5L AWD Hybrid (2025) in for an oil change at my local ford dealer at 8000km (5000miles) and they argued with me that semi-synth was the oil to use when I knew it was full synth. I insisted that they use the correct oil and they did so begrudgingly.
Now, I bring it in for its 16,000km service (10,000 miles). This time I bring my own oil and filter because, frankly, I don't trust them to use the right stuff. However, I pay for "the works" service with customer provided oil/filter.
When I pick the truck up and get home, I see that they didn't rotate the tires, noting it was "not needed." At 16,000km without a rotation? That would mean when I bring it in for 24,000km it would get its first tire rotation? Doesn't that seem extremely long?
Further, It seems they didn't inspect the brakes, e-brake etc.
The service schedule for this truck says:
"Here's what happens at your 16,000km checkup:
-inspect brake pads, shoes, rotors, drums, brake linings, hoses and parking brake.
-inspect engine cooling system
etc etc etc"
They didn't even do the first line item. Their reasoning? Well, a tire rotation wasn't needed so they didn't take the tires off so couldn't inspect the brakes...
Also, the truck went in with tire pressure of 35psi (which is what's on the door jam) but left with 33psi so it seems they let air out of my tires for some reason.
There is an active safety recall on this truck and they didn't let me know about it.
What are everyone's thoughts on this? I'm inclined not to trust this dealer for service but everyone tells me that every other dealer in the Edmonton area is even less trust worthy and that this is the best one.
Should I be avoiding Ford for all service? Is this totally normal and I'm just over-reacting?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

I handle most of the maintenance myself and only take the vehicle to the dealer for warranty work or jobs that require tools I don’t have, like tire replacements. Not everyone has the time or skills to do their own work, and in those cases it’s best to find a reputable shop you can test and trust to make sure things are done properly. From my experience, many dealerships rely on young, inexperienced techs who often aren’t very motivated, partly because the pay isn’t great.Hi everyone.

Yeah I’m starting the get the vibe that Ford dealers often don’t even know what kind of oil to put into Ford vehicles. It’s pretty shocking, actually.I have a '24 Mav Hybrid. I took it to the dealer for an oil change at 6500 miles. Dealer wanted to use syn blend and 5W-20. Wrong type of oil and wrong viscosity! I insisted they use full synthetic and 0W-20, which is what Ford calls for. They charged me quite a bit more and did it. Rotated my tires too but forgot to but the key for the lug nuts back in my Mav so I had to go back.
I will go back to what I have always done with my cars. Change the oil myself. Then I know quality oil and filter are going into the engine.
