Yeah IDK what is up with people excusing this. Still waiting on someone to post examples of any other new car with this "feature".That is NOT just a shipping coating. That is a DEEP GRIND.

That's a lot of pages but worth noting 52.6% of people who responded do not have the issue, so I'm not sure about that being an inherent design flaw.Apparently this group never experienced the S550 Mustang driveline vibration debacle.
Check out how many pages this thread is: https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/threads/vibration-between-50-70-mph.15990/
Ford never fixed this - its an inherit design flaw in the driveline.
I like to remind folks that Ford is hell 'meh' with build quality.
Yeah a "deep grind" on a chunk of iron like that is absolutely nothing as long as it torques good. What type of failure issues do you see that this will cause? Heck you better not park by the beach for a few days if this concerns you, your brake rotors will have surface rust them. Yeah it’s an eyesore that can be fixed with a few squirts of rust inhibitors.
For me it’s a non issue.. I have a 2021 Ranger that shows surface rust on some of the undercarriage components.
Well, you have owned more than one Chryler, so…Even so, they should have painted it after cutting. It's poor quality control by Ford. No other good explanation.
My thoughts exactly. Not sure the OP can prove this will cause failure. Not exactly a warranty issue if it functions correctly for years. What type of failure issues do you see that this will cause? Spend some of the money you saved on Blaster Surface Shield! I'll be protecting my new Maverick with this stuff when I get it. From my experience, it works very well! It's a mass produced part on a $23k truck. They cast it, coat it, and final machine it for assembly.
Hey keep us posted on any issues this causes!!I'm sorry for having higher expectations after 10 months of waiting. Maybe my concerns are unwarranted. Maybe after 30 years of driving I shouldn't have expected anything less from Ford. It's my first one and I'm feeling like it may be the last. Hopefully I'm wrong.
I just went down and saw some similar light surface rust in the strut/spindle area on both our Honda Odyssey and Mazda CX-5. I've seen this on before on a Nissan Frontier's driveshaft and on brake rotors on many vehicles.Yeah IDK what is up with people excusing this.
