I haven't driven mine much yet so I have not received many calls or texts. I'm wondering if the native Sync 3 system or Android Auto does a better job with those. The voice button on the steering wheel appears to trigger AA when it is on and I want to make a call or ask a question.
I stick with AA, works great. Don't think I've ever tried making a call with Sync 3.

I purchased what looks to be the same one on Temu.com and I agree it has been flawless.

Great deal! (y)(y) I think on Amazon the Motorola costs 3X that!

Just to make sure I understand correctly, this device basically replaces the direct plug-in from the USB port to your phone so Android Auto is enabled wirelessly to your dash screen. Am I interpreting this correctly?

Have the same setup but my Mav has the wireless charging pad. And you are right that stick pad they give you sucks. Used 3m double-sided tape.

Guess I don’t get what the big “inconvenience” is to just plug the phone in and have AA/CarPlay?? 🤷‍♂️

Its not a big inconvenience, however it does reduce wear on phone plug. However, however, it may increase wear on battery. To each their own. I'm not saying you have to do this, but I like that I did. 😁

Also not a birds nest of wires that get in the way of everything. Of course the Mav would have to have a wireless charging pad for that to be the case.

I purchased the AA Wireless from Indiegogo in April 2022 (I think, so long ago) in anticipation of my Mav coming in "any time now". It was then a concept. When it arrived, I installed it in my Honey's 2020 Kia that was not wireless. It worked flawlessly.

While waiting, the Motorola became available. I ordered one of those also. I figured I would be quite the ass removing the AA Wireless from Honey's to put it in the Mav. It sat in the box until May, 2023 when my baby was born. (18 months after I ordered it) The Motorola works well too. The plug in constantly with wired connection is what worried me too.

I don't know that I'd call it an inconvenience but I'd frequently get in and start driving before remembering to plug in my phone. Now, I don't have to remember anymore because it just works.

So I get how the interface works and all, but I'm wondering if just a USB micro WiFi dongle would work? Is the Motorola or similar really required?
I guess I don't understand the difference.

SOME aftermarket stereos can do wireless AA/ Carplay already. Maverick does not.

The Maverick head unit is configured to connect to AA/ Carplay through the USB port. So a WiFi dongle wouldn't do anything unless it was plugged into Maverick USB port AND the phone is configured to know how to use AA through Wi-Fi. But that is not a built-in function on Android or iPhone.

So yes, the AA or the Motorola dongles work via Wi-Fi and also interface to the truck so it thinks everything is connected via USB.
