Last year I used a graphene to the max wax as a base. 2 months later they released a ceramic/ graphene paste wax they claimed was better.
I called them for clarification and was not fond of the answer.
They said to strip the graphene max then use the paste wax as a base. Otherwise future graphene coats would not bond correctly. The paste is quite good and goes on/off in half hour or less.
from that lesson learned I use the paste, followed by the graphene to the max (it protects from car wash scratches) as maintenance I use the ceramic detail spray and it can be used as a waterless wash

Ok. So, if I understand you correctly one should use this graphene paste wax as a base followed up with the graphene spray?
Interesting that this paste wax is a ceramic / graphene combo.

That’s correct. They said paste for a base followed by any TW topping for better bonding and protection

Yeah, I was a little intimated about trying to do a genuine ceramic or graphene coating myself and didn't want to pay the $$$ to have it done. I may look at it again in the Spring or Summer.
If you mess up or overspray you can quickly get it off with water. It takes like 24 hours for it to cure

First time working with a clay bar and this type of finish. Watched a lot of Youtube videos and was a bit intimidated, but it wasn’t bad. I code the Turtle Wax product because of good reviews and ease of use/beginner friendly-ness. I think it looks great!

Does turtle wax give any specific working temps for applying their product? Your truck looks great BTW. For now just biding my time until I get my long stretch of vacation over Christmas and New Years, then I will be applying a coating over my paint as well.

If I remember correctly, it does not. It was in the upper 40s when I applied it.

Any recommendations on the clay bar and procedure. I've not used one before.
Most clay bars are very similar. You want the mild versions as more Aggressiv versions definitely require polishing after*. A light touch and plenty of lubrication is the key. One trick I learned somewhere along the way was to hang your finger tips off the edge of the clay to feel the paint surface. Sound is another good indicator of what you’re doing.

*some say you always need to polish after clay but I haven’t found that to be the case.

Just saw your Mav and my Area 51 XLT will be arriving in Dallas between December 13-19. It looks like you treated the blacks with something as well. Do you recall what you put on the blacks to make them pop like this? Thanks!

I know I'm not the person to whom you directed your question, but saw the post and I just purchased a product by Turtle Wax appropriately called Trim Restorer. Very satisfied with other TW products, so went with it. Have yet to use it. Initially purchased because my neighbor's Saturn Vue was giving me a headache with its new paint job coupled with crappy looking black trim. Most Mavericks would probably benefit more from a protectorate than specifically a restoration, but I believe the TW product also protects.

I just used regular 303 protectant on all the plastic and the tonneau cover. It doesn't really make it glossy, but brings out the black a bit.
