Yep , installed an optima DH5 last year. Sleepy time is gone. However my trucks been in the shop for 3 months going on 4 months waiting on a wire harness for the transmission. The 40 pin plug located in the front left bumper area has pins corroded and caused my transmission to give another SHIFT SYS FAULT.

I'll be swapping in an H5 tomorrow. Considered going optima for the slightly extra capacity but weize was like 1/3 the price. Never messed with agm batteries so not sure about the whole tube part that connects to the battery.

Tube works on either side. Comes with a plastic vent plug to plug whatever side you don’t use

I put in an LN1 AGM after optimizing it with
My Genius 5 then resetting BMS and letting it rest for 8+ hours. Never looked back. Consistently rests at 12.6v to 12.8v and charges at 14.6v to 14.8v as I drive. Two months in and no deep sleep issues. What came out of Mav was a 390 CCA POS …. It was only slightly better than the 350 CCA battery in my JD LX 280 garden tractor!!! I can’t believe Ford would install a ā€œplayā€ battery in good conscience. What did they think was going to happen ??????
My brand new H5 AGM that I topped off, reset BMS, and waited is reading 12.25 in the morning. I haven’t even taken for a drive yet, but I don’t have faith this is going to fix whatever is draining the battery.

I installed an H5 AGM from Walmart today. Hoping for a few headache free years from deep sleep.
What you will find is that you may get the occasional sleep message, but the battery will fully charge within a few minutes of driving. The AGM battery won't sulfate and go dead due to the amount of times the BMS system requires it to be recharged.

Now you can ignore the sleep messages. I've had 3 in the last 6 months versus 3 every week then the battery dying due to sulfation in 6 to 8 weeks. You should be fine now.

I don't know why so many are against getting their own AGM battery. Cost? Let me breakdown cost for me. I took the better part of a morning to bring my truck into my local dealership's service department. In my line of work, I average about $43-$50 an hour. I left my truck there. They called me 5 and half hours later to say my truck was "ready." Had to have my wife drive me back to the dealership. After about 5 hours of lost time, I was told that they couldn't test my system due to my aftermarket amplifier system I installed. They also said they charged the battery.

The next morning, the battery was completely dead and NO, it isn't becuase of my aftermarket system. I installed a kill switch that completely disconnects my amps from the battery when I leave the truck. 5 hours times $43 an hour = $215.

Cost for my AGM battery which charges and runs fine..................$215. My time is worth more to me than spending time going back and forth trying to convince a service department of my issue.

Yes, I get it. You buy a new vehicle and it should perform fine and in a wonderful world the company you bought it from will fix or find the problem that is causing you concern. That was 40 years ago. Not the norm today. There are dozens of posts in here showing the reality of what we have to deal with.

The wonderful people in MaverickTruckclub told me everything I needed to get myself out of this battery mess. And, it has been rare instances that a service department replaced the battery. And it has been rare that they replaced it with an AGM battery.

Someone already posted how such a low quality battery has been installed in the Maverick. I agree. I've seen higher CCA's in golf cart batteries.
Install it yourself, it ain’t rocket science

Thank you for this thread. Currently doing lots of research and digging as I await my new 2025.

To those who have put in a Group 140R, how tight was it? the H/W/L of 7.48/6.85/8.19"

I am looking to get ahead of the game and put in a Group 40R with 7.48/6.93/10.94, but i don't know if an extra 2.75" will be too much.

**EDIT** Found that the Group 47 / DH5 / LN2 would be the maximum at 7.5/6.88/9.53.

Cheers.
Google suggested H6, would that be too big?

H4 will drop in, H5 requires easy modifications and still looks stock. Not sure an H6 would fit and look stock.

I just read this. I am thinking about replacing my stock 12v battery in my 2023 Maverick lariat hybrid with a AC Delco AGM that should fit but when I go to sites and plug in my vehicle specs, it never comes up with an AGM. If I put one in will it void my warranty?

Thanks for that information CurtisB. Very helpful. I have had no problems yet, but know it will be coming and want something that will fit. Now if I just knew Forscan to raise the charge level from 80 to 95%!
Someone posted that he changed his from the 80% to 95% but monitoring the SOC showed that battery has never charged above 82%. Could it be the BMS is considering something else also?

I’m a noob to all of this. I’m failing to understand why an H4 AGM, with 570 or so CCA wouldn’t be the battery of choice. Why go bigger and have to make mods, even if ā€easyā€, as easy is in the eye of the beholder? It was my job to break airplanes as a pilot for 40 years, not fix ā€˜em, so my mechanical skills are lame.

I live in Northeast Wisconsin and I don’t want to be caught out in some parking lot on a -20 wind chill day with a dead 2024 hybrid. I’m going to go with the AGM later on this fall, even though I haven’t had any of the reported issues yet (since I took it off the lot in May, 3,500 miles or so) with the stock battery. The battery voltage often reads 11.7 or so before I start and I drive it 2-3 times a week for generally less than 20 miles, and it generally is 12.3+ volts or so on shutdown.

Other than the flooded battery clearly being a bad choice for the hybrid especially, I’m wondering if there isn’t an issue with the BCS and/or BMS as well where it isn’t optimizing the battery for all the stuff the truck does when shut down.
