could be. vehicles now days, just stop and pull the fuel hose out after it automatically shuts off. Trying to get a small amount of fuel in after it automatically shuts off is just not worth the trouble and possible repair imo

PO451 but I'll check it again in the morning. I'm not sure now.

Over filling the tank will not allow evap system to vent properly.
THIS. It is an outdated practice and just stop. I have seen so many threads on this topic. No one is going to get additional mileage to justify damage to the EVAP system. No autos made in this century need to keep clicking the handle, but I see and hear people doing the same every time I fill up..... SMH.

Actually....

A whole BUNCH of vehicles made in the past decade you do. There have been lawsuits filed over this. Some Toyota models are notorious for not letting air out as liquid fuel goes in. Net result, people going by the "first click" rule were getting 60% , 70% fills at best.

People started taking vehicle to dealerships with fuel gauges that never read full. The quick fix: gaslight the customer. Reprogram the digital gauge for 70% to = full. Then lawsuits came.

I'm not saying Maverick is one of them.
I'm 99% sure Maverick is not one that benefits.

And driving until you’re running on fumes will damage many parts of the fuel delivery system.

I’m on the other end of the spectrum. Stop at first click & fill up when at half tank. “Be Prepared” to never join the prestigious “800 Mile Club” is my motto.

“Not letting the air out” was probably due to Toyota being at the cutting edge of pollution control but still on the learning curve.

My later model Corolla would clean & vent air while sitting still in the garage hours after a drive. I think Ford copied the technology in our Mavericks?

Shame Toyota was sued for that. Probably by members of the Japanese chapter of the prestigious “800 Mile Club”.

Yep, I’m with you, stop first click, fill up at half tank and never care about the clubs, EV coach thing etc. IMO life is too short for that boring grandma stuff, I’ll take the FUN route with the time I have left and make use of that sweet turbo!
