I'm sry but I think this is a good trend.new and used prices have been going thru the roof lately! About time it's getting back to normal. Imo.A little less than 2 weeks ago I received a quote from Carvana to sell them my 2022 XL AWD Maverick for just about $30,500. A family member is in the process of purchasing a new vehicle and offered to sell me their old vehicle at a great price which would have replaced the Maverick. I followed all of Carvana's steps, sent in photos, copy of registration etc and they told me a representative would contact me if anything else was needed. Last week I decided to check in on the process and saw that my offer had expired despite being in the middle of the process and not being required to submit any additional info. Carvana customer service said they were going to look into it and then yesterday just said the price expired because I failed to submit a copy of my driver's license even though I definitely had submitted it and at the time they said they didn't need anything else from me. They basically said "sorry, get another offer". I did, their new, updated offer was just over $25k which is still not bad considering that's what I paid for it last April but a far cry from their previous offer so I said no thanks. I'm thinking that their forecasting software realized that they're overbought on Mavericks and maybe they see a change in their customer's buying habits so they intentionally voided my offer but something is definitely going on and it seems like the tides have changed. Just wanted to let you know my recent experience, maybe some of you looking to sell to Carvana will have better luck than I did.
Not for me it hasn't.Carvana Pricing Dropped Off a Cliff
That is what I am trying to do. Sell my loaded 22 XLT hybrid with less than 7k miles for a 23 Lariat Lux Hybrid. Vroom offered just under 33 last month but I will wait until my 23 gets closer to make a deal. Not for me it hasn't.
Just sold my MY22 Maverick XLT Hybrid that has these factory options added:
Co-Pilot360 + Rear Sliding Window + 110V/400W Outlet in Cab
Also added aftermarket: Hard Drop-In Bedliner + Rear Splash Guards + Front Windows Tinted
I purchased it on 12/13/2021 for the out-the-door price of $26,068.21
MSRP was $24,175.85 which includes delivery charge
Sold to Carvana today 8/28/2023 for $31,404
That price is $5,335.79 over my out-the-door price of $26,068.21
and $7,228.15 over MSRP price of $24,175.85 which includes delivery charge
Not bad for a used vehicle that I have had for 1 3/4 years and 9,269 miles.
My MY23 Maverick XLT Hybrid is scheduled to be built the week of 9/4/2023 that has these factory options added: Co-Pilot360 + Trailer Tow Hitch + 110V/400W Outlet in Cab
Total out-the-door price is $28,381.46
MSRP is $26,350 which includes delivery charge
So in effect I get my brand new MY23 Maverick XLT Hybrid for FREE and an additional cash profit of $3,022.54
Also a plus is Zero wear and tear and a new 3 year warranty and no Recalls or TSB's that need to be done.
Sold my 2023 Maverick XL Hybrid to Carvana and it went smoothly. Submitted my request and the paperwork with it and they offered $32,870 for it. I said OK and two days later they picked it up and sent the check to my bank. That deal went through around early June. I have no complaints about how the deal was handled or the amount they gave me for my Maverick. Absolutely no hassles at all..A little less than 2 weeks ago I received a quote from Carvana to sell them my 2022 XL AWD Maverick for just about $30,500. MEH. Used car prices are dropping all over the place. It is part of inflation receding and a return to normal. That and fact that there are Mavericks making it to dealer lots. Perhaps all those that purchased one just to resell it have completed their mission which also drove prices down. I'm keeping mine.A little less than 2 weeks ago I received a quote from Carvana to sell them my 2022 XL AWD Maverick for just about $30,500. When I bought my Maverick last year, I sold my 2016 Fusion Hybrid to Carvana and can confirm that what you say is true, though even more extreme from what they said at the time. My Fusion had 91k miles on it and was in almost perfect shape -- one small door ding, a few pencil tip-size chips in the paint, and a perfect interior. The inspector said that they almost said no because of the mileage since they typically don't accepts cars near 100k. However, since the car was immaculate and a hybrid, they bought it for nearly $12k, which made me very happy.Carvana, and the others (Vroom etc.) make there money on financing the vehicle. They are looking for vehicles a few years old with low mileage, that people want to buy. They can't sell a vehicle with 200K miles that's 15 years old and resell it with a "If you don't like it, bring it back warrantee," which they all have.
When my '23 Lariat came in I used a quote from Carvana to boost the offer for my '23 XLT from the dealer for the trade in.A little less than 2 weeks ago I received a quote from Carvana to sell them my 2022 XL AWD Maverick for just about $30,500.
