Auto lock is when the car gets up to speed and locks the doors automatically and does not automatically lock the doors when you walk away. Its user error.
I know it's user error. I was the first person in this thread to state that.

Yes, I know what it is. If autolock activates and you stop and you don't have auto unlock feature enabled (as I said), the other three doors will still be locked.

Meaning it's driver's error when they get out and accidentally lock the door with their hand.
Have you read the thread? My first comment was the first one that called out user error. I know that it was user error.

@Julie Harris In most cases when this occurs, it is user error and the manual door lock is accidentally pushed in when opening the door from inside to get out. The manual door lock that I refer to is above the inside door lever, circled in red in the picture below. The Maverick is not programmed to automatically lock doors when you get out.

Not the case with mine. Have a 22 MY XLT and if my key is in my pocket and I am working around the truck it will almost always lock the doors automatically.....I can hear the doors lock when I walk by either side of the truck. I will always add the keypad if I buy another Maverick. In 2022 the XLT came included with the keypad.

After all of the discussion of this problem, nobody has ever been able to show proof that this happens. Do you think you can show proof that it automatically locks without intervention and nothing in your pocket is pushing the lock button while you're working around it?

That was some interesting stuff. I’ve had my maverick for 3 months and I go old school and keep my key in my pocket. I lock the door on the door panel and open with the key fob . I’ve set the horn off once. Trotter73

I know - I never set it up. I’m definitely doing that today! But as a more serious issue, why did it lock me out?
Probably because as you pulled the handle to open the door and pushed it open from same spot you locked the door.

Many have done it after they reflected on their movements and tried to duplicate it.

Many have even reported all the doors were unlocked except the driver door they exited.
Kinda of enforcing the process that occurred.

I stepped out of the car to get water from the back for my dog. Cmon. I’m not a dummy.

It's a pretty terrible idea to leave your keys, phone and wallet/purse in an unlocked vehicle ever. Hell, don't leave them in a locked vehicle, either. :D

The inconvenience of it being stolen or locked out of the vehicle is not worth whatever perceived convenience you get from leaving those things behind.

I certainly agree that this has been discussed A LOT and no one ever demonstrated how the truck would allow it to be locked through electronic means with the keys in it. You have to manually lock it with the lever on the door panel. you can do that accidentally. If you have one fob in the truck and try to lock it with another fob, it will double honk and won't lock.

Thanks all. The real question is: why did it lock with my keys inside??? Forget the keypad, it never locks with the keys inside. It specifically does NOT lock with keys inside. So why did this happen?

Nope they've done away with it across a lot of their lineup. They have the wireless version now as an add on. I got that on my 24 XL. And apparently the price really went up on the 25's for it.

Still that's half off the F150 price for the same thing...
And even with that option - don't you have to get the keyless entry option for it to work?
