Can I tap into the highbeam circuit for ditch lights?

I'm considering ditch lights to help with very dark rural roads, but I encounter on coming traffic pretty regularly. I'm hoping that I can tap into the high beam wiring or fuse so that aftermarket ditch lights will turn on/off with the high beam switch, rather than having to find a button in the dark on my dashboard.

Any ideas if I could add some LED ditch lights to the high beam circuit?

Keep in mind that in many (most? all?) places it's illegal to have high beams + other lights active at the same time

This is South Carolina. We don't have laws like that here.

The BCM fog lamp circuit automatically turns off with high beams. Using that to power your ditch lights would work as you describe. That requires an F-150 headlight switch and FORScan to activate.

EDIT: nevermind, I misunderstood what you're wanting. You would still have a separate lighted switch to push if you did it that way.

High beams on 2022-2024 are activated with LIN communication to the headlight, not a discrete 12V signal, as mentioned here.

that's the answer I was looking for.

You would need to cut into the headlights and pull the signal from wiring inside of it. There is one post here with vauge instructions.

All Mavericks have had LED low and high beams since 2022.

I dislike that the headlights automatically go to low beams when you get below 20mph, usually I slow down to make a turn and need the extra light to see the street or street signs. I guess they expect everyone to be driving in the city, not out in the dark countryside. Kinda like new cars with no spare, not all areas have cell service

The "auto high beam" is a setting that can be turned off so they work like you expect.

If you take your headlights off of automatic and just switch them to "ON" they will stay on no matter what. But it'll also disable the feature where they turn off if they sense another driver on the other side of the road, or any ambient light that would normally shut it off.

If you use the high beam as a trigger to a relay, and powered independently those high those ditch lights it would work fine
