I keep waffling on whether I'm gonna keep my 4K EB Mav or upgrade to a 2023 hybrid Mav. I just can't decide if the trade-off in towing cap is worth the small increase in MPG. My usage is around 60% highway and 40% city. Can't make up my mind. Frustrating!
Do you tow anything now or do you plan to in the future? I was totally impressed with my first towing experience, but I'm going to delve further into how my Mav handles towing a load internally. I'm looking into buying an OBD2 and using forescan software to be able to read transmission temperatures, etc. My engine temp did not increase under the tow load (based on the dash gauge) so I'm hopeful the trans temp stays in the normal range under a load too. Unseen damage is still damage🧐.

Also, on the way back home I averaged 27 mpg (2 miles below the rated 29 mpgs for a eb Mav) over 3.5 hours of highway travel at 80 mph with the AC on which included construction traffic jams with mostly "stop" and a little "go" for about 20 minutes, with a total trip of about 200 miles.

All driving on 87 octane fuel. Was going to fill up with premium prior to the short 7 mile round-trip tow run to increase hp/torque, but the 1 gas station on the way to the dock was too crowded to fill up the tank. Glad the extra ponies were not neededšŸ‘.

Mostly just hauling a 5x10 open trailer with my mowers on it. It is well within the specs of the hybrid so I'll probably go ahead and get the hybrid. I like your idea of using OBD2 software to monitor the trans temp.

Sounds like you work hard...time to buys some toys (e.g., smallish camper, fishing boat, etc.) which don't exceed 4k lbs and keep the ebšŸ˜‰.

No regrets here. Glad I got my 22 earlier this year. Yeah, will have to take it in for some recall issues, but every car company has that happen.

I am getting to order a 2023 Maverick and I am getting concerned about all the issues I am reading about. Anyone want to chime in and make me feel more confident about my potential purchase? How many of you are sorry you bought the vehicle.
I have the EB Lariat with 10K & I live in rural area with rough roads and mountains driving. No issues and one of the best trucks I've owned. Still draws attention & conversations when I park. I know several owners who placed order for 2nd EB 2.0 they loved the 1st one so much. Long waits, but in my opinion it's worth the wait.

I've had mine (Lariet, hybrid) for 3 mos and 3,000 miles. NO regrets whatsoever. just made a 1500 RT at 75mph across PA, WV, OH and Into Indy and averaged a quiet, comfortable 39.6 mpg.

I'd load it up with all the goodies except sunroof (leaks waiting to happen and expensive in ANY vehicle in my opinion)).

I have 2. A Lariat Lux with EB that I drive and a XLT EB AWD FX4 that my wife drives. Very happy with both of them and they are getting great gas mileage.
I run premium top tier fuel in both of them and have been doing Mobile 1 full synthetic oil changes ever 3000 miles after doing the first change at 1k miles.
I haven't had the first problem with either of them and don't expect to have any.
As previously stated many of the people come to the forums to complain.
I have owned over 400 vehicles in the last 53 years. I have my own fully equipped shop with lifts behind my house and I think that the Maverick is an excellent value for the money and would recommend it to anyone who wants an easy to drive truck that gets good mileage.

My XLT FX4 has been solid so far. 11,000 miles on it. Only issue has been with the radio software, it is buggy but keep in mind that is fixable with updates.

We love ours! That being said we've dealt with few of the issues, but our dealership as made the fixes fairly painless. We have a XL Hybrid, it was exactly what we needed/wanted at a great price.

I have a BASIC, no frills, XL. OK, I did get a couple of extras but still... nothing fancy.
It is a decent vehicle so far. It took me 375 days to take delivery... but I'm happy with it for now.

I don't think you'll be disappointed.

I've casually watched several threads like this and this is the first instance that I've had the time to reply. Long story short: I ordered an XLT 2.0 EB, AWD at the end of September 2021. Dealer agreed to MSRP. They also allowed me to order with no money down, and straight up told me they were fine if I didn't buy the vehicle (Markups were already pretty common at the time). Fast forward to the end of April (in the meantime I was monitoring sale prices) dealer says the vehicle is in. I purchased it primarily because I knew I could resell it for more than I bought it for if I found a different vehicle I liked.

I drove it for 3 months, put 4,500 miles on it, then traded it in to a Honda dealer for $5,000 more than I bought it for towards a '21 Ridgeline. Dealer was motivated to sell the Ridgeline and eager to get my Maverick. (They are a dealer who only lets vehicles sit on their lots 30 days, and it was coming up to that date). I will say that the Maverick has been sold already to another dealer, who then sold it to a Ford dealer in Colorado and the asking price is now 45,000 (around a 15,000 markup from the point I purchased it) If you plan to do this, check your state laws on vehicle tax. In Indiana, I was able to take all of the tax I paid for the Maverick and apply it to the purchase price on the Ridgeline. Different states won’t let you do this, or have caps.

Here were my takeaways and reasons I sold it:

1) In the Ridgeline, I was getting a nicer vehicle for about the same money. I won't regale you with the reasons I think the Ridgeline is a nicer vehicle - look up both and make the decision for yourself. As I was monitoring some used car value resources, it also looked like used car prices might be declining.

2) I hated the seats. There isn't a way to adjust the angle of the front of the seat bottom, so I constantly felt a ridge under my thighs. The seats go up and down, but the bottom of the seat maintains the same angle to the floor. This doesn't seem to be a common issue, but drive it for awhile and see what you think.

3) Your experience may vary, but the transmission was not pleasant. Constantly searching for gears and causing strangely high or low rpms. Sport mode and eco modes made everything much worse.

4) Engine noise. Like some others you'll find here, I found it annoying. Again just an opinion. Driving noise annoyed me. The Ridgeline is much quieter.

5) Too many question marks. The maverick long term reliability may turn out to be amazing. The 2023's may fix a lot of the 2022 issues, but I eventually decided I didn't want to take a gamble on a 1st model year.

6) I've got a child in a rear facing car seat. No matter how I installed it, it just didn't work out well. If I put it behind the driver or passenger seats, those seats had to be moved up to the point where neither my wife or I were comfortable. When I installed it in the middle of the backseat, both front seats still had to be moved up because of the width of the child car seat in relation to the width between the two front seats. Not to mention I couldn't use the under seat storage in the back.

7) Paint issues. You can look into these issues on your own, (and I'll clarify I'm not an expert) but something doesn't seem right about the paint. When I looked very very close, I could see spots all over the vehicle that were slightly duller than others. Hard to explain. Just check the paint very close. I clay barred the vehicle and it didn't help. You might want to have a detailer look at your paint before you purchase.

8) Radio was horrible. I actually didn't mind the sound quality, just the interface. Touch buttons were sluggish, android auto didn't work half the time (had to pull the usb cord in and out or reset to fix). It just stopped responding to touch several times and I had to turn the car off for awhile or reset it. Very bizarre.

9) Interior material quality. Yes I know it’s a cheap vehicle, but the plastic trim just seemed to scratch easily and didn’t clean up like other trim I’ve cleaned.

These are just the negatives I personally experienced. I could make a positive list, but that doesn’t seem applicable to this thread. If I was a single guy with a different body frame (my height is in my torso), I might have kept it. Research, test drive, be patient, and don’t pay over MSRP. It isn’t worth it. If I had to do it over again, I’d get a base XL.

Eb or ev? If ev, you'll find mechanical issues, loss of elec. range in cold temps below 25 deg. Far., And charging logistical issues. But at least you'll have a gas engine to make up for a lot of itšŸ‘ which the electric only cars are missing.šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«if eb, you'll be fine. Can you tell I'm not a fan of any electric cars?

Only a few months with my EB AWD 4K and do not regret it at all. My previous 4 vehicles were Audis and I was worried I'd find the Maverick harsh and noisy but quite the opposite. Also happy with the 32-33 MPG I average in eco mode.

Funny but the only thing I was disappointed in was sound quality of the radio. The Ridgeline is a nice vehicle but about $10K more where I live, bigger (a negative for me) and from reports: gets about 10 MPG less than I average with my AWD EB. Still, I can see the Ridgeline being a better fit for some.
