I'm curious to know what brake pads & rotors everyone is switching too (or swapped from OEM) for better quality or where at the end of their life.

I'm getting close to the end of the pads lives, but I'm curious to know what all everyone is switching too. I have normally changed both pads/rotors at once and would want to get them done before winter comes along. When I got my car inspected back in February, they said for a vehicle as old as mine (I know its no where near old), they mentioned how great shape the pads are for not having as much wear & tear on them based on other vehicles that have come and gone...

*UPDATE* - I'm just about to hit 80K miles on all original pads/rotors from factory.

Regenerative braking means that the hybrid's brakes wear a lot less

I've exclusively used Akebono brake pads on my street cars for the past 20 years or so. They're low on brake dust, never noisy, great wear and I've never had fit problems like some other brands (ex: having to grind the backing plates to fit into the brackets).

And I'll typically buy whatever coated rotors is cheapest from a known brand. But I'd be surprised if your rotors need replacement?

How many miles on your Maverick?

I'll likely stick with Motorcraft parts. Provided the rotors are coated.

Hopefully since inspected by someone they provided a rotor thickness measurement in the paperwork, so you can probably look right on the rotor for minimum thickness, if it's worn evenly each side.

I forgot to look during my last inspection if the rotors have that stamped on them, like many I've seen in the past.

I've not noticed a lot of dust, probably because more time for wash off since little is produced.
So I like the info above about a low dust brand, to improve it even more.

ETA: Hopefully they also included on inspection report (if this was the 10K maintenance list) - what is the moisture content of the brake fluid, does it need fluid flush?
24MY maintenance schedule does NOT include replacing brake fluid at some interval (last time I looked, but e-version so they could add it anytime) - but it does say checking the brake fluid and level.
I think some earlier MY's included an interval replacement.

Raybestos is my go-to for replacement pads/rotors.

No Need. It's not a 1,000hp car. In town I barely have to even use my brakes. Mostly just regen power.

With the regenerative braking of hybrids the brake pads are only used at the last moment to stop the car at low speeds, or during emergencies, and should last a very long time. High performance brakes would be of no benefit for the slow speeds at which they are typically engaged. Unless you like throwing money away I wouldn't replace them, especially since they told you they look great.

80k is nothing for a hybrid with regenerative braking. Seen more problems here with premature rust on the rotors, though. Sounds like a waste of money to me.

You have 80 k on the factory stuff and you want to switch? Curious why.

My Fords ALL get FoMoCo parts only. Never once felt the need for stronger brakes in any of my trucks, even when pulling trailers and carrying cargo in the bed at the same time.

Was just curious on what everyone prefers to use either swapping oem's or replacement time.

I do a lot of coasting whenever possible. I bought a new Chevy Venture in '03. It went 83,000 miles on the original front brake pads. I was averaging 30+ mpg, granted mostly country driving and trips from NY to FLA and back.
Good job on taking care of your vehicle.

Does Ford have different quality parts; the one they use from the factory and a less quality the dealer installs after market?

I ask because Chrysler did this. A vehicle came from the factory with a more robust part, say brake pads, but dealers installed MoPar Valueline when replacing the OEM. The Valueline series was a step below the original part fitted to a new vehicle. Or that is what I was told.
