I don't believe the ABS light turns on when it's being applied.
My eyes are usually on other things if braking is going on that hard and fast - not exactly looking at dash - but never seen a light when I was "testing" in the snow.

ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM INDICATORS

This system helps you maintain steering control during emergency stops by keeping the brakes from locking.

If the warning lamp illuminates when you are driving, this indicates a malfunction. Your vehicle continues to have normal braking without the anti-lock brake system function. Have your vehicle checked as soon as possible.
The warning lamp also momentarily illuminates when you switch the ignition on to confirm the lamp is functional. If it does not illuminate when you switch the ignition on, or begins to flash at any time, have the system checked by an authorized dealer.

I didn’t say the light didn’t come on, but anyway ….I’d be the first to lay down a huge stack of money against you saying it’s not a “warped” rotor. 😂😂😂
So in your opinion rotors can't warp in 9,000 miles Yes or No?

Warped rotors shake like crazy when stopping not so much when driving IMO!!
If you're using the brakes they'll shake and if they're bad enough they'll shake especially if the calipers are old and aren't floating very well. Of course, the hybrid does more regen at speed unless you're stopping hard.

Come on …you know I’m not saying they “can’t”…... I’m just saying the issue we’re discussing on this forum about the “shaking while stopping” is not warped rotors. It’s happened to me ….my truck….. and several others and my rotors are NOT warped. And I bet you the people on here that are reporting what’s happening do not have warped rotors either. Pretty simple.

So if the OP Maverick didn't do it when new[which he didn't mention] but now it's doing it do You still think it's the ABS?
Don’t know for sure if it’s the ABS, but ….my truck didn’t do it when “new” either. It did it several months in on the same corner with bumps going into my neighborhood and I’ve re-created it. I was breaking on bumpy road too fast. I just have to slow down over those bumps or I get exactly what the OP was talking about. But like I said, I don’t know if it’s the ABS. I just know it’s NOT warped rotors causing the bumpy bouncing braking issue that this entire post is about. 😊

It's been in the body shop for the last couple of weeks (someone else wanted my lane - not severe). I'll get the runout dial gage out when I get it back. When the severe shaking happens I don't feel it in the pedal. It seems the whole front suspension is doing the shaking. I suppose it could be warped rotors maybe. The other "grabbing" in the last 5 feet or so when coming to a stop, in the first few stops after starting a drive, seems to be coming more from the transmission grabbing or almost like gearing down. But I don't feel a shift. I have to let up on the constant pressure on the brake pedal to keep the stop from that grabbing hard - or what seems to be grabbing.

Sounds like a "tank slapper"

Your wheel/tire combo is roughly 28 inches in diameter. This gives you roughly a 7 foot circumference. When almost coming to a stop that last "grab" is the warp coming around for the last time. I'm sure you'll let us know what you find. Good luck.
