Brake issues

So has anyone else had brake pads/ rotor issues?
At 20,000 miles my rotors self destruction.
1/16 inch pits all over the rears and the fronts warped ans grooved severely.
The dealer replaced them under warranty but wouldn't do the pads which the rears were destroyed because of the rotors.

The truck has 22,000 highway miles. Almost 0 city driving and no towing or using the parking brake.

These are the fronts which are 90% there.
Since they're extremely easy to change I put all new on after the dealer did just the rotors.
Seems like I got about 68000 on my last new brakes on my fusion so I'm far from hard on the brakes.
Not sure if it's junk steel they used or not but the dealer said I'm not the first one with this exact issue

Seems the dealer should have included the pads also as it was the rotors that caused their premature demise. Edit: although the fronts might have been serviceable the rears definitely should have been covered. I agree with your replacement of the fronts too.

Both sides of my rear rotors have two scores in them but otherwise my brakes are fine.

But hybrid to ecoboost isn’t quite the apples to apples comparison you’re looking for.

I’d just take the opportunity to upgrade to some far more quality components

Almost 60k miles most of that is highway and both rears are worn like to 20% life. Fronts still have over 60%. I don’t do any towing, used the parking brake a handful of times.

And that's what I was expecting.
Service manager said mine isn't the first one with issues.
The wanted $273 dollars to replace the rears because ford wouldn't cover the wearable part.
I got all of them, fronts and rears for about $90
Pins weren't seized and everything was free.
I wish I had taken pictures of the rotors because they had craters in them.

Thinking others should have been experiencing this based on what the dealership told me

Seems unusual to me, I've got well over 40K on my MY22 EB Lariat AWD now. Brakes, rotors and even tires are in great shape, but I will go ahead and put a new set Michelin tires back on at by next 5K mile oil change just to have that out of the way before winter weather gets here.

Curious to know why you think the parking brake would cause brake wear. These are not the old cable and drum brakes where it could stick partially engaged. Yes anything is possible but I use my parking brake..........well.......every time I park.

No idea how you do that in 20K miles.... I just did my rear pads at 65K, rotors are fine. Front pads still have ~40%, rotors are fine. I haul, heavy tow several times per year, plus DD duties.

My Tremor has 32K now. I will replace them in the spring. The Mav OEM uses semi-metallic pads that dust and make noise. And the rotors surface rust overnight until the next time I drive it they get scoured clean again by the semi-metallic pads. The rotors are getting scored and pitted a bit. I am going to go with full Geospec coated rotors and ceramic pads when I do them.

Do you have Adaptive Cruise Control by any chance? I have it on my Maverick and a Chevy Equinox. I know the system uses the brakes a lot when there is a slower vehicle in front of me. I sometimes wonder if the system does not ride the brake system more than it has to for the sake of safety. I try to disengage the Adaptive Cruise Control when in traffic to prevent excessive brake usage by the system.

On my wife's 22 Bronco Sport, I had to pad slap replace the front pads early on due to excessive dust and the OEM pads were made in Romania which did not inspire a lot of confidence.

Just did the rears as at 30K miles they were spent. Rear brakes wearing faster than front now seems to be more common.

No mud and not much salt either because I usually take my real trucks out in crappy weather.
My guess is junk steel.
