Might better start. Before you do all of that, give me a heads up so I can move my Ford stock into something else.
Good thing GM and Stellantis run a tight ship on quality and customer retention or they may have offset customers leaving them and coming to Ford to cancel the 3 lost customers, especially the 2 that were never realized after talking to a stranger.Might better start.
They lost 2 sales today after speaking to 2 strangers in a parking lot that asked me how I liked it. Both changed their minds about buying one. One was a mechanic and saw the new pads and rotors and figured it had 50,000 on it so he'd get a longer mileage opinion. He was applaud that the brakes were shot at 21,000 and Ford didn't cover them
Funny how negative publicity works especially when it comes from a person that works on vehicles![]()
It's also spent a month at the dealer for multiple ACM issues and replacement. Sometimes the dash works and others it doesn't.Good thing GM and Stellantis run a tight ship on quality and customer retention or they may have offset customers leaving them and coming to Ford to cancel the 3 lost customers, especially the 2 that were never realized after talking to a stranger.
All kidding aside, I have my niggles against my Maverick Hybrid with the 12V battery but I am not there yet to burn the place down on the way out.
I understand your frustration and certainly would feel exactly the same if it were mine. Ny 2024 has had zero issues so far but I am only at 11k miles. The brakes would do it for me. There is no way rotors should have exploded. Good luck with whatever you decide to buy. I would suggest though if you choose to post videos or on social media about Ford and their poor quality stick to your facts for your truck and not venture into libel or slander. Ford's legal fee pockets are deeper than mine or yours. Please let us know what you end up with when you trade it off. It's also spent a month at the dealer for multiple ACM issues and replacement. Sometimes it goes black and others the touch screen doesn't work.
I'd say the the quality of mine is somewhere around non-existent.
It's going back next week for yet another try on those.
When I get it back I'm going shopping for anything but a Ford.
" Quality is job #1" doesn't seem to exist anymore
It is probably junk steel. My rotors were toast at 60k when rear brakes finally wore down too low. I paid and they were on sale around $180ish for full set of rotors and pads for both the front and back and installed the back rotors and brakes myself. Those rotors were also slotted and drilled not smooth like the OEM rotors. The hardest part of the job was disengaging the electronic parking brake without using any software through the ODBII port. The truck has 22,000 highway miles. Almost 0 city driving and no towing or using the parking brake.
These are the fronts which are 90% there.
Since they're extremely easy to change I put all new on after the dealer did just the rotors.
Seems like I got about 68000 on my last new brakes on my fusion so I'm far from hard on the brakes.
Not sure if it's junk steel they used or not but the dealer said I'm not the first one with this exact issue![]()
I used my scan tool to release them but there a YouTube video on it using a small sequence of steps. It is probably junk steel. My rotors were toast at 60k when rear brakes finally wore down too low. I'll use the videos and pictures of exactly what failed and Fords responses to each.I understand your frustration and certainly would feel exactly the same if it were mine. I get this after the Maverick sits for a couple hours or longer and start heading down the road just coasting until I get up to speed/past the first good stop..
Mine just started squeaking at 20k
Thank you for that. It actually doesnāt really happen to me unless Iāve been driving aggressively for sometime. Later on that day after that video, I did a cars and coffee which was a 1 Hour Dr. there for me and then a 1 Hour Dr. back and on my way back thereās absolutely no squeaking.I get this after the Maverick sits for a couple hours or longer and start heading down the road just coasting until I get up to speed/past the first good stop.
Ironically, mine didn't start squeaking like this till a couple thousand miles after I changed my brakes with my go to premium aftermarket pads and rotors.
It's happening on my rears.
I thought I was losing my mind and doing something wrong and have removed and replaced slider pins/pin grommets with new, replaced the aftermarket supplied caliper spring clips with Motorcraft ones (feel like the tension/fit is tighter with OEM), clean and regreased everything else and it's better, but still there.
Iāll tell you what the serious problem is at. The adaptive cruise control does heavier break-in than me, but I do like to use it because my commute home from work is a lot of stopping goal on the expressway. I live in Chicago but I really do not drive in the city. I do mostly highway driving and I want to say 70% of everything is on the expressway whether itās congestion or open road. I have the appointment for the 20,000 mile inspection Friday and I am going to inquire about everything. My 2024 on its 20,000 mile service right before Bambi totaled it.
I ask and my Ford dealer let me in the service department for a quick look at my brakes with the wheels off for a rotation. I drive in the mountains. Not much city.
My brakes looked as good as new.
Yours look like they have suffered extreme heat.
If not heavy loads or city stop and go then,,,,
Are you riding around with your left foot hovering over or touching the brake pedal ?
Premature wear and damage like you have is often brake riding that the driver would never admit to. We are human, we do things like this.
Think about it, be honest with your self.
If your sure you donāt do that AT ALL then
You better get a letter off to Ford Corporate.
And pull your wheels in 5,000 miles and inspect.
Again at 20,000 mine were like new. Yours look like you could have a very serious problem in the brake system.
Yeah it definitely makes it easier but it is not necessary to go buy one just to service the rear brakes. Once you unbolt the EPB motor it is just a matter or knowing which way to hand turn the shaft to release the pressure on the brake piston. You also need to cycle EPB on and off once after reinstalling before starting the engine or you'll get all sorts of error messages in the instrument cluster.I used my scan tool to release them but there a YouTube video on it using a small sequence of steps.
