Hmm I guess I am the exception that proves the rule. I adore my 2dr RAM 1500 with an 8' bed. This is my hauling truck. Try putting 3 yards of mulch (or anything else) in a short bed truck. For dump runs, dirt and mulch hauling, I will take a Standard cab 8' bed every time. In fact I did not see any use for a short bed 4 door truck.

That is until I got my mav. I have a cap on mine to haul my labradors around. With the 4 doors I can haul stuff or people when I have the dogs with us. It is also great to haul baked goods as you do not have to bend and strain to get things out. I can park this little guy anywhere. No more taking up 3 or more parking spaces. It is a great truck.

I still dont see a use for a big 4 door truck with a short bed. To me that is just someone compensating for something.
I have a F350 4-door w/8 foot bed.
It helps towing our 14,000+lb. trailer.

I drive it occasionally without the trailer. When I can pry it away from my nephew who uses it a lot. For me the 350 is not a fun all around truck to drive.

Even when I owned 2DR extended cab Rangers. I wanted the 4-dr Rangers from Mexico. Prior to the internet most folks in the US didn't realize that a four-door Ranger even existed.

What a lot of folks tend to forget OR leave out when they're talking about a small two-door, standard cab, pickup truck such as the Slate.
Is the fact that, if you're a tall driver, you may not be able to recline the seat back at all.
Same as it was in the Ford Ranger. Talk about a cramped cab.
It sucked!!

Good day

We don't have someone in the back seats every day or week, but we do use it quite often for when we are watching our grand daughter! And when we have her over, we use it quite often to go do fun stuff. It works great for us in its size, as the car seat fits in nicely. It is a trick getting the behind the seat seat tether off, but I know the trick, so not a bother anymore.

We also use it when our children and other family members fly in for holidays or what have you...again, perfect size and the hard Ford bed cover works great for keeping the suitcases out of the weather.

I would not call the rear seats spacious, but for what we use our truck for they are exactly what we had in mind. Not too big, not too small but just right for our use case.

Have a good one,

Andy
love to see how you get car seat in and out of the Mav. I’ve put one in for our 4 year old grandson a time or two and it’s a pain in the you know what. He’s always wanting to ride with grandma and grandpa in our truck but we usually ride with them in their explorer. He’s not completely deprived as our son bought a Maverick after we loaned him one of ours for 6 months. And he has a car seat permanently installed in his mav.

Yes, my son who is 5’10” and 200 lbs. and my daughter who is 21 have both ridden back there. They say the seats are comfortable and there is a surprisingly spacious amount of leg room considering the size of the vehicle. They do not like having the rear speakers right next to their ears. They also have to buckle the middle seatbelt because even though there is no middle passenger, the sensor seems to think there is and the dash warning and chime will go off incessantly if they don’t. The vast majority of the time, though, other than the occasional grocery run, the backseat stays empty.
I had the same thing happen when only the Neighbor lady was in the back seat and the middle seat belt had to be buckled before the seat belt screen in the dash would go out after i pressed ok..

I’ve had passengers in the back a number of times. More likely to have the dog cover in. Because of that I got a locking bed cover so I can put stuff back there and leave the back seat free for people or the dog, a lab mix, actually prefers our Highlander for more room

2 times in 11.5 months. Went to a wedding last summer that was 3.5 hours one way. My Wife in the back, my mom in the front. My wife said she was very comfy the entire trip. 95% of the time the back seat is locked in the up position, and I am the only passenger. ✌

I usually adjust the fade on the stereo if I'm going to have it on with passengers back there b/c I've gotten that report as well.

When I have someone in the back seat I need to have my front seat moved forward quite a bit. I'm 6'1" so it's a little cramped in the front. If I have my seat all the way back, only a small child would fit.

My grandkids are in booster seats and it is super easy. However when one was still in a car seat it was a pain. The anchor points for the car seat straps are pretty deep. I had to get a longer strap for the graco car seat we had so it could clip in easier. After that it was a snap.

My 2011 Ranger was 2 door, my grandchildren were getting too big to get in back. One of the main reasons I ordered Maverick when first offered, was 4 doors. Yes, they have been in back many times in 4 years!! Love the space too.

On his second annual the vet said the last time he saw a physique like that was on a police dog.
Vet said the new data I found was correct.
You should not castrate large breed males, ever.
It makes them feel poorly and that makes them irritable and more likely to bite or show aggression. They need the hormones. Proof is right in his picture.
Every male dog I ever fixed got fat and or had thyroid problems.

My boy stays whole.

Good morning!

Yes, it definitely is a bit of a trick getting the seats out. We used to just keep the seat installed as well till I thought about it and tried to following. It may take 2 people, and my wife and I get along so getting help is no problem when needed, usually! 😉

If the seat is installed properly, it is hard to get that rear tether loosened so that the seat can be removed.
-Once I loosen and release the seat bottom-back belt hooks, I move the passenger seat forward.
-I then (pivot) lift the baby seat all the way up to the truck ceiling.

-You should be able to reach the seat back release strap and move it forward enough to reach behind and unhook the tether.

I hope this helps you out and you can more easily enjoy having your grandson in your truck with you, whenever you want!

Andy
