I'm not trying to make any kind of point. I'm just curious to poll the community and see how many have had people (not stuff) in the back seat. The question isn't whether you want a four door, four seat truck. For instance, I put stuff back there all the time. The question is very specific. Have you driven with people back there.

Edit by OP. After 300+ votes, I really learned something. LOTS of people do use the back seats. This really educated me, which is why I made the poll. I guess the Ford product planners knew what they were doing when they made it a four door.

When I bought my Mav, I really wanted a Ranger with the extended cab (jump seats). I had one years ago. I liked the idea of having an place to put stuff inside the cab where it could be locked. If I had to take a couple people, the jump seats were OK as long as you weren't going too far. Unfortunately, this was about the time Ford generally decided every pick up had to be a 4 door. Yeah, I could have ordered, but the dealer didn't really care about ordering. So, went on line and found my Mav at Carmax.

Yes, my son who is 5’10” and 200 lbs. and my daughter who is 21 have both ridden back there. They say the seats are comfortable and there is a surprisingly spacious amount of leg room considering the size of the vehicle. They do not like having the rear speakers right next to their ears. They also have to buckle the middle seatbelt because even though there is no middle passenger, the sensor seems to think there is and the dash warning and chime will go off incessantly if they don’t. The vast majority of the time, though, other than the occasional grocery run, the backseat stays empty.

Good day

We don't have someone in the back seats every day or week, but we do use it quite often for when we are watching our grand daughter! And when we have her over, we use it quite often to go do fun stuff. It works great for us in its size, as the car seat fits in nicely. It is a trick getting the behind the seat seat tether off, but I know the trick, so not a bother anymore.

We also use it when our children and other family members fly in for holidays or what have you...again, perfect size and the hard Ford bed cover works great for keeping the suitcases out of the weather.

I would not call the rear seats spacious, but for what we use our truck for they are exactly what we had in mind. Not too big, not too small but just right for our use case.

Have a good one,

Andy

Constantly, all of the time.
We don't have children, but our involvement in our community and church has us shuttling around folks on errands. We also like to have friends join us when we make trips to the nearby bigger cities. Riding together with friends when we go to dinner, instead of just meeting up at a restaurant is nice too. We just moved my mother to the are in Oct to take care of her, so she's a frequent passenger. We are moving my in-laws here in Jan, so they will be frequent passengers as well.

Ditto on the middle seatbelt thing. 2 pax with the center armrest in the back is ideal, but it does trick the middle sensor, do we keep that one buckled at sll times.

In owning my Maverick going into my forth year, I don't recall anyone ever riding in the back seat of my truck, not even my dog.

Yes, many times but will generally take our RAV-4 if a longer trip with two in back seat.

Also, my dog rides back there all the time, and taking the dog cover out is a pain.

I probably have one or two passengers in the back seat at least about once or twice a monthly. I actually had three in the back seat one time for a few months ago. Thus far it has always been an adult. And they have been fairly comfortable

I have No use for two door truck cabs. It seems neither do almost 90% of the members on the form.
OR
The world..

Globally, the four-door (Crew Cab or Double Cab) pickup truck is the best-selling style. This configuration is dominant in both the North American market, which accounts for a vast majority of global pickup sales, and in international markets like Australia and Europe.
In short, the shift in consumer preference from traditional work vehicles to versatile personal and family transportation has cemented the four-door pickup as the global best-seller..

My quest for a four-door pickup truck goes back to the 90s. I realized after having Nissan hardbody. A single cab was too small for my needs. Trying to take my stepdaughter and her friends anywhere, I always would have to borrow my wife's car. Now it's taking folks to the airport.

If the Slate sells it's only because it is the appearance of being cheap.
Kind of like the Yugo, nobody wanted a Yugo. They bought them because they were cheap.

This seems like such an odd question that has to have some kind of agenda despite your claims otherwise.

But The answer for me YES, literally every day. We have two teenagers and they can't ride in the truck bed :D

And it's not uncommon to have the back seat full with three kids when they bring a friend along somewhere. Just last weekend I took my one daughter and three of her friends to dinner and the mall. They fit just fine.

Passengers = Yes, but not often.
As with many things, it's better to have the capability and not need it than it is to need it and not have it. The rear seats also can hold a lot of stuff that I don't want in the pick up bed.
I also like some space behind me rather than a window.
