Does anyone know what’s up with the back up camera repair and the recall?

They do not have a fix yet. Last I heard, Ford said "Fix ready in 2025 Quarter 1". Which @fordvideoguy likes to say means "end of March" since Ford likes to go with the latest possible date in the quarter they claim something will happen.

Read the recall that comes in the mail or the recall section of your FordPass app. It explains it pretty good. Basically you’ve got a little while. 😂😂

I have a feeling it is related to the front camera issue and they are waiting on a fix for both.

I got the recall letter in the mail a couple weeks ago and it basically said they’ve not gotten a fix yet but are aware of the problem and are working on a fix. So we just have to wait.

Ford Motor Company and Ford dealerships are going to take a bath on these unsellable '24s stuck on lots.

By the time they can be sold they'll have to offer incentives since there will definitely be '25s on lots.

They can take their time developing a fix. My backup camera working fine. So far.

If it fails, I go the old way…L and R and rear view mirrors. And awareness of surroundings.

I can promise Ford is motivated to fix it ASAP. They just got done paying a $165,000,000 fine for dragging their feet on fleet-wide backup camera issues going back years.

Sandy Munro has a saying: "Don't try to save me money. I can't afford it". Ford just plain refuses to learn that lesson. They're wallowing in recalls (most in the industry by a big margin) because they dug to the bottom of the barrel for every part in our Mavericks. And then they squeezed the suppliers so hard that the suppliers dug to the bottom of their barrels. And we're driving the result. Lemons with all the juice squeezed out.

Kidding about the lemon part - just making a joke about Ford's famously brutal supplier management. My Ecoboost has been problem free for two and a half years now. Really no complaints here.

What I don't really understand is Ford has been installing these cameras across the board in their truck lines for YEARS. Some have had maybe small glitches....but for the most part work flawlessly for the life of the truck. What is it with this particular camera that makes it CRAP?? You would think they have this down by now....in 2024........

They cheaped out on XL / XLTs with sync 2.crap and hardware can't handle the feed. I'm sure the savings was worth it with every XL and XLT recalled.

How did this make it out of pre production phase is beyond comprehension. Did they think people wouldn't notice ?

For our Mavericks, its not the camera itself, but the lousy low end electronics they use for the Infotainment system. It struggles in just about every scenario. Combine that with some bad software and we have a recall. I honestly don't see a software fix being a real remedy for this. My infotainment glitches all the time. Black screens, delays, not dimming when it should, pops, freezes, etc.

yes. this particular problem is caused by 'Ford Connected Audio' which was internally developed and I would bet the hardware is insufficient.

however, it wasn't like this in 2022. it has always been slow, with a low-resolution resistive touchscreen. the speed and quality were noticeably poor compared to the sync3 Mavericks (B&O audio). but the backup camera didn't start freezing until relatively recently.

some updates to the truck have created this issue. presumably, updates can fix it.

NO. Ford Don’t take your time to fix this my new truck is sitting in a lot (for the past two months) and they won’t let me have it…. I’ve already paid for insurance and a $10,000 down payment. Come on Ford.
I’ve ask if they could just remove the camera for now??? NO.
