Yep. Before they released the 2023 changes, the two things everyone was wishing for was a split bench seat, and Eruption Green.
I'd add rear window defroster to that list.

I wish it DID NOT have storage under the seat so I could fold it up and have a flat floor board to haul things in the dry.
they had folding rear seats in the 80s and 90s, and the result was a terrible seat that was really low to the floorboard. I am certain of this because my dad owned an '89 Nissan 'king cab' 2 door.

plus where does such a seat fold? this is not a minivan, you are not folding it flat to the floor via a storage tray that goes below the level of the floorpan. if it folded it would take up interior space on the back wall. (if you think sides and then no need for rear doors at all, that's an even bigger joke!)

the bed does what you are asking. if you need it to be mostly or entirely weatherproof, make sure the bed has a tonneau cover.

I keep commonly used tie straps and bed net in the cubby in the truck bed.
I try to keep uncommonly used items under the rear seat since I always have a kids car seat back there, but there is a small slot between the seat cushion and bin that grocery bags can slide through.
Same.

lucky you! just buy a lariat, you get a rear defroster. it cannot be controlled separately, it's integrated to the side mirror heater.

check the specs. power sliding rear window includes a defroster.

true. but you did ask for something that Mavericks actually can already have.

you're also in Central Texas and I'm in south-central Kansas, and I have very little need for a rear defroster. if you park outside overnight I can see a little need, maybe. garaged I would think close to zero need for rear defrost.

I figured to make a shelf that lays on the seat bottom, with the backs in the unfolded position, and two support legs onto the floor.

In and out when I need to keep tool bags dry for work.

End of the day, bags out, shelf out.

Dual purpose truck, daily driver, and replacing a 2500 HD, a BIG downsize.

Also have a small enclosed trailer, that may become a dedicated unit, but not sure until I finally get my Maverick and try the shelf idea out.

i am considering building a shelf also. Loved seeing the new tacoma extracab with just storage behind the front.

2 months ownership here, back seat used once for a short drive. I put a tonneau on and use the back as my previous CRV DD. It works for me.
