Dammit, that may explain the tortilla and bean paste residue stuck on my steering wheel when it came in, I thought it was too fast to get here by normal means.
Me too.
And I'm a professional welder.
One of my concerns is how it would change airbag deployment.
Further no way in hell I'd ever do this commercially as it's a liability nightmare.
Yeah, cool, but it's the OPs life at stake, not mine.
Younze all are missing the point, the low cost Mav was a great idea.
Lowest price truck, lowest priced hybrid.
What a selling idea.
Coming from a 10 mpg 2500hd that is at life's end, and a 13 mpg Jeep Liberty, it sure as hell caught my attention.
I thought my brother had paid the 100 dollar...
Two year payoff, that's nothing as the average vehicle age in this country is 14 years.
Further why try and make the smallest and lowest Ford an off road vehicle?
It's only going to beat it up prematurely, and end up getting stuck in 8 inches of snow.
We get wet snow in PA that turns to ice...
May have been October 22, its been so long, I don't actually remember anymore, but it was the third day of the short order window.
I'm actually surprised I got it so fast this model year, but I think the lack of any options other than the hitch, helped me get it sooner.
August 22, 2022 order date, came in today.
Just took a quick look, BUT, this only the 3rd Maverick I've seen, and first I have been able to sit in.
First impressions, intererior is bigger than I expected, did not know the bed was only 42" between the wheels, meaning changes to my in bed plate...
The problem with any rack that mounts on the bed rails is, they eventually break them apart as they are so thin.
My Maverick is in today, and I am designing a non bed mounted system.
Found this thread just for ideas, I'll start a new thread as I progress.
Oh, also, there's a feeling of self sufficiency you get lowering a just serviced vehicle off a rack.
Same as brewing beer, making wine and shine, digging your own potatoes, or hunting a deer, cleaning, butchering, and eating it.
You may not have too, but you CAN, if you need to.
So, paying nothing in interest for a vehicle is worse than a loan?
Still money you are paying interest on no matter what.
I'll keep doing oil changes and work on cutting out the oil filter hole to make OC number 2 easier.
No investments need be touched, nor concern about payments.
Ownership...
I figured to make a shelf that lays on the seat bottom, with the backs in the unfolded position, and two support legs onto the floor.
In and out when I need to keep tool bags dry for work.
End of the day, bags out, shelf out.
Dual purpose truck, daily driver, and replacing a 2500 HD, a BIG...
Interesting thread, I'll push the boundaries once I get it.
I hauled 4400 pounds of steel scrap In my 85 S10, told my guys to keep loading it once the springs bottomed out, and they packed it full of 1/4" steel diamond plate.
I had to carefully get it down to river level as it had almost zero...
Not shipped yet, still waiting for that email.
Also, the dealer is a small local dealer, I'm not sure if that affects how soon they get prioritized for delivery, or, if small allocations affect shipping time.
He was pretty confident it would take time.
We'll see.
Stopped at my dealer, he said, that they come in with no regularity, sometimes the get there fast, other times, long waits.
He said not likely to arrive this year at all, perhaps January or February.
Today, Cactus grey hybrid, one option, a hitch.
7/17/22 order date, 10/16/23 build date, three weeks later, its done.
Now, on to the ship times.
Western PA, so, far from the factory.
