Hello Everyone: I need some advice here. I have a 2025 Maverick AWD Hybrid. I had a flat tire today where the tire is destroyed. I have 7500 miles on the tires. The tires are Cooper Discoverer Road + Trail. I was wondering if I could replace the one tire or should I replace all 4? I do not want to damage the AWD system with different tread depths. Is there a rule of thumb with Ford’s AWD Systems with tread depth variation. I had a subaru where this happened around the same mileage and I had to replace all 4. Thank you in advance for your insight.

Yeah thats what I was thinking. To me its not worth the risk to save 500-600 bucks.

I am not sure 7,500 miles counts as “significantly worn.” Depends on the tire brand, rubber compound, driving style, and a bunch of other variables.

You could look at the tread depth you have now versus what a new Cooper Discoverer comes with and get some more insight.

It's an AWD, always replace all four if one gets damaged, no matter the mileage and cost

I order tires for vehicles at work. Generally, with mileage that low on an AWD vehicle, we match the same tire brand that the vehicle was originally equipped.

You should be able to have the new tire tread shaved down to match the other tire tread depths and save replacing three tires and a good bit of cash.

I would play it safe and replace all four tires. However, I would then sell the remaining three good ones either in the classifieds on here or on Facebook Marketplace to get some cash back. You can probably recover a few hundred bucks if selling to the right buyer!

Had 3 of my oem primacy tires stabbed out at 500 miles and replaced them with some cheap ironman tires. Just swapped them out for some new primacy tours at 27k with no issues. At 7500 I doubt you have that much wear on the remaining tires. I would just put that new tire on the rear and call it a day.

Used to be typical that rear axle is slightly underdriven with a FWD made to AWD platform. So rear is typically best place for faintly taller tire. Not sure what it is on Maverick though.

At those miles i would replace just one tire. Pretty sad if you have to replace all 4. The awd system is that fragile?

My experience tells me that you need to replace all four tires. If there is a slightest difference in the tire circumference, it can damage the all-wheel-drive.

No reason to buy 4 with such low mileage. Though best to put the new tire on the rear. Remember, you are only in AWD as needed.. Cruising on the highway you are FWD only... I put an odd snowtire on my Escape with no issues for one season while I waited for my Mav to come in. Tread was similar but not the same and did not notice any difference. Also, check with your tire dealer to see if they have any of yours used. Big tire dealer here in New England saves decent tires and resells. They make money since they cost them nothing. I ended up buying 4 used tires for my Escape, again while I was waiting on my Mav. I paid paid less than 80.00 for each, with an original price well over 200.00 each.
