Rarely, but sometimes while still on low beam and not going very fast, it will pick up a reflection from a road sign and not enter high. Seems to happen when cresting a hill heading downhill. Usually returns after a few moments.

Yes, I’ve seen this. There have been a few times when the truck will never activate high beams at any speed. I confirm that a is over the headlights symbol in the control panel as well as manually activate high beams and then deactivate to put back in automatic mode.
However, on the next trip, the automatic high beam seemed to work fine.

on my 24 have notice that it is a little bit lazy at going to highbeam automatically when I 1st start up my car. Usually get about a mile before they start working. Crest of the hill too as someone else noted.

I have found that if there are any other bright lights in the area (ahead), streetlights for example, near and far, that the lights may not go to high beam. Farm lights in the distance also have the same effect.

But usually they switch when they should.

If it is a problem, just turn your light selection to normal and not auto headlight and go old school and control it yourself till you get it sorted.

Have a nice weekend,

Andy

The light knob has to be in automatic headlight mode and you have to cycle through the high beam stalk positions until the A lights up. You have to be driving faster than something like 20 mph and the camera can't see oncoming lights or bright reflections.

Search the menu and you may find that the auto headlight choice is turned off.

This is one of the first things I turned off on my truck, it’s a useless feature that doesn’t work properly. It was constantly flashing oncoming drivers.

Me as well. Drove through a light fog under street lights, and it constantly flashed off and on under every light. Couldn't wait to turn it off.

They don’t activate until 30mph. Actually mine work very well (22 XLT ). Was driving at night with a friend and he noticed how well the auto hi-beams were functioning. He was impressed and said he never uses them in
his Acura TL because they don’t work very well in that vehicle

As in all things, automatic high beam lights probably won't work perfectly in all situations.

Fog, snow or blowing snow and rain/heavy rain conditions being the low hanging fruit for conditions for them to not operating properly.

I would also suggest that in these conditions that high beams would not be the preferred lighting setting.

As the driver in control, knowing when to turn off all these automatic settings and actually driving the vehicle is optimal...and for what it's worth....turn off your cruise control if slippery conditions may manifest themselves! Ask me how I know this...my Dad was right when teaching me how to drive safely.

I see so little difference between low and high beam doesn't seem to matter.
