Check battery after a good drive. It should be above 12. If not then it is not holding a full charge. 11 volts is only nominal while starting.
Will do!!

What is the latest word on this situation fellas?

I went on vacation and left the truck sitting at home for almost three weeks. Sometime on day 2 of my trip, Fordpass sent a notification saying it was disabling features to conserve battery. Came back home and been back for a week now, and auto start stop has not worked a single time. Prior to my trip it had worked flawlessly for over a month.

Based on what yall posted here, it seems I need to take it to the dealership to have that battery checked.

I would for sure… wondering if it’s not a battery charging issue (battery or alt?) mine is working and when it isn’t I go through the menu and it says too cold of charging… been too busy at work to get anything done…

If you have a battery charger, hook it up for a few hours.
Any autosupply will load test your battery for free.
While you're at the autosupply get a multimeter (volt meter) should be $25 or less (walmart less than 20).
After your battery has been resting for a few hours the meter should read MORE THAN 12.0 vDC. If not time for your dealer :cautious:

I get that notification sometimes within minutes of shutting the truck off if it's cold out. Key remote start works fine however. Today I noticed the auto stop-start never activated at all but it was a high of +2 today.

I decided to wait and see if I got the FordPass app low-charge notifications. Those started on the 7th. I have an appt on Friday. I'll update when I find out more.

Update: Appt was pushed up to today because of short staffing. I've had 23 deep sleep notifications in total. Auto Stop/Start has not worked even once since early December. I also got the gas tank recall later last night. It could be a while until I get it back but they did give me a loaner.

Auto Stop/Start has not worked regularly since coming home from the dealer at the end of December. I did not pay attention, figuring I was not familiar with how it was supposed to work.
Drove 500 freeway miles, and when I came to the first stop, it was functional. Ten days later, it did not work again.
Drove 500 miles back, and again, it worked at the first stop light.
Finally connected the dots mentally, and checked battery voltage after the truck sat over night. The voltage reading was 12.16V using a Fluke.
That is a battery at about 60% of charge. After less than 24 hours from a trip that should have charged it fully, to around 12.6V.
I have not noticed the Stop/Start symbol on the cluster.
I think I have a failing battery or a current drain exceeding specifications.
Thoughts?

The dealership didn't have an answer for me. They said they sent the question to Ford but hadn't yet seen a response. They did ask if I unplugged my dashcam when I turn the car off. My past several cars have been Japanese/German so I'm used to the power ports only being on when the car is running. In the Maverick they are on for 10 minutes after you turn off the ignition and (I think) 10 additional minutes every time you open a door. Unplugging it has lessened the number of deep sleep notifications but they haven't completely stopped.

Side note, I got this notification a few days ago. I checked and this wasn't an update to the app but rather to the Maverick. I couldn't find any release notes.

It could be that there is some sort of parasitic loss draining the battery when the truck is powered down. Over an extended period of time a parasitic drain could cause the 12V battery to drop below a preset voltage threshold and cause the Deep Sleep mode to kick in. Eventually this could result in the failure of the vehicle to start or cause certain "features" to temporarily be disabled until the battery threshold is reset after charging (either by an external charger or by driving the vehicle and the generator will charge). The question is what would be causing the parasitic loss (something in the design of the Maverick or an external influence such as OP's dashcam or other connected device).

If it was a parasitic drain, it seems to me that it would take days to drop the voltage down to the 12.1-ish volt readings that were read a day after a 500 mile freeway cruise.
When motoring around town, I have a USB charger that indicates voltage, and it registered in the 14-ish volt range when the engine was running, and a few tenths lower when the blower motor was pushing air through the HVAC at idle rpm.
I have not seen the battery resting voltage above 12.3 on any occasion.
I would think that 8 hours of driving, almost non-stop, should have charged the battery to 100% or close to full capacity, yet every time I open the hood to use a meter it is in the low 12volt range. I noted today the voltage was 11.9 on the meter plugged into the power outlet on the dash, after a couple days of non-operation.
I will be contacting the service department of the local dealer, perhaps getting an appointment within a few months... No idea if they are staffed or not.

Auto stop/start must meet a few different conditions to operate.
  • engine at operating temperature
  • battery voltage low/ electrical load under 10w
  • ambient temperature
  • cabin temperature
  • rear defrost not selected
  • high heat not requested
  • max cool not requested
  • no trailer connector attached

The auto start/stop stopped working the 1st day I had my Transit Connect.
I was very pleased, as this feature is a pain in the ass, in my opinion. I've had the van for 11 months now, and it still doesn't work, and I hope it never doesl.
I'm gonna get one of those by pass connectors to eliminate this feature from my Edge. Worth the $100.

Modern cars don’t charge like older ones. I had a CRV that was having problems charging. There was a TSB out for a reflash that fixed everything. Alternators are smart these days. A lot of them only charge on deceleration.

I don't think that techs know much about this truck yet. They told me directly they couldn't figure out why it was happening. I've been hooking up my truck on the weekend to a NOCO charger. It extends the life of the battery and prevents the truck from going into deep sleep. There is clearly an issue but I'm going to give it time for them to find some solutions.
