My auto stop/start quit working on my XL, so I tried the battery charger fix (charged for 5 hours) and it started working again. I'm not sure why this happened. I drive my XL the same amount as my previous vehicle, a 2018 1.0L 3 cyl EcoSport, and never had an issue with the auto stop/start on it. Are the batteries on the EB Mavericks not being charged correctly? I'm not now or have I ever been a mechanic, but this doesn't seem right to me. If this is the case, I wonder if Ford will do anything about it.

Sounds like a warranty issue. I'd take it to the dealer.

I'm not too concerned about the auto stop/start not working, but I am concerned about the battery not charging right. I just happened to read about things that could cause it not to work on another thread and decided to see if my battery was faulty, and it was. I do want to get my local Ford dealership (World Ford) to look at it, but they want to keep it for a minimum of two weeks and do not have loaners. As this is my only vehicle and I work, that is just not feasible. I will check with other dealerships Monday, even if it means a bit of a drive.

Just by chance, did you view Owner's Manual pages 168-170? Not sure if what you are experiencing is listed on Page 170. Worth a shot.

That's where I first got the idea that the battery might be low. Then I read a post in another thread that said basically the same thing and recommended charging the battery, so that's what I did. It also says if auto stop/start is not working (illuminated gray) the information display should tell you why it is unavailable. I have yet to see anything in the information display that gives any info on auto stop/start.

I had issues like that on my new 2019 VW Tiguan after a few months driving it off the lot. Turns out that the battery was defective and had bad cells. Took the dealer 3 weeks to figure it out. They ended up replacing the battery and it fixed the issue under warranty. Bring it back to Ford and have them test the battery.

Could it be that these trucks where assembled and stored in a field until they were ready to be shipped. And the battery's that sat in there for months un charged began to degrade?

I noticed mine wasn't working a couple months ago and didn't think much of it. I had just bought a throttle enhancer and installed it and it has worked ever since? The moral of the story, get a throttle enhancer.
