I have to believe that I am not the only one happy to see this ridiculous "feature" repealed going forward. The A.S.S. on my Maverick quit working months ago. Most likely a combination of the months long cold weather and a battery slowly dying into oblivion.

Some of the dislike, IMO, is simply because it's a government mandate. Yeah, the idea was to improve fuel efficiency and help the enviroment. OK, those are decent goals. But, couldn't you accomplish the same thing by limiting the vehicles top speed? Most interstate speed limits are 70. So why can certain vehicles go over 100?

I never understood why people dislike this feature.
I can only speak for myself. My feeling is that the defeat button should remember the last setting when you restart your truck. In other words, the A.S.S would become optional. I don't really think that feature would have been too much to ask.

I do think it is able to be defeated in ForScan, right?

Yeah the hate for start-stop kinda puzzles me. I never had an ICE car with that system, but I love how the hybrid isn't wasting fuel by idling all the time at lights or in traffic

Maybe the system doesn't work so well on the EcoBoost and that's why ppl hate it 🤷🏻

In before the lock.

Are we going to repeal traction control, airbags, seat belts, crumple zones, etc next? All those make cars expensive.

That darn gov't can't mandate my safety.
Don't tread on me, bro.
Gov't mandates are lame. I sure love how much mpg my EB ICE Mav gets, though.
I'm not a hypocrite, you are.
etc, etc

The only time I like it is when I am sitting at a slow moving drive through. When it shuts the engine off at the end of a freeway off ramp I picture the turbo bearings cooking. Since I cant train my brain to remember to hit the off switch I am going to install the bypass harness, I like the fact that it defaults to off but pushing the button enables it for those drive throughs.

I have 2 cars with it and hit the defeat button as soon as I get in the car. It can be abrupt if you are stopped and engine is off and you go too fast from break to gas in traffic for example. You end up on the gas before the engine starts, and when it does start, it is then very abrupt and assuredly not good for the drivetrain. Savings in fuel is largely negligible and not even measurable based on my experience when first using it.. The folks who pushed for this should give up a home or two, the yacht, and drive a hybrid, and we would make out much better. Leave the peasants alone and practice what they preach.

Maybe Ford should have a stop sale order to fix the SS mechanical defect.

Was the intended purpose of this "feature" perhaps gas saving or what?

Hola. Gracias.-

I remember when Chevy Malibu's had TWO 12V batteries one exclusively for the start stop system located in the trunk.
Glad it's gone.
I'm not a fan for of start/stop. I know we have it and it's the way it has to work on our hybrids, but never understood the need on a regular ICE vehicle. I do have a question, our hybrids don't actually have a starter I believe? I think it starts by the wizardly electric "motor/generator"? I would not like a standard starter on a vehicle being used over and over every day, seems like unnecessary stress and a maintenance issue. I'll bet a starter for a Maverick is not cheap.
