I posted a thread a while back where I estimated that if every person registered on MTC (going by # of people on member list page) had a problem with their Mav it would only account for about 5% of total Maverick ownership. And that was going by sales # from middle of last year.

Want to talk lemons? Try owning a 1991 Chevy Lumia or 1995 Dodge Caravan.

Replacing the brakes and turning the rotors on the Chevy was a literal biannual maintenance, the roof liner came down after just 2 years, and lots of other issues. And it completely died one day just after paying it off, was able to limp home stalling out every mile or so and I called one of those We Buy any Car type places that day to come get it.

The Caravan paint started peeling off after a year or so, the transmission "blew up" around 60k miles (Dealer guy's words, he said they were bringing it into the bay to check it and "bang! There were gears and fluid everywhere!"), and we had to replace the entire A/C system (in a couple of chunks) before it was 3 years old.

Ended up trading it in underwater for a 1998 Camry that lasted us 14 years.

I wouldn't posted if I didn't have two half axles and 4 software updates at 40k. It is what it is.

It's understandable you are seeking validation, and these are known issues. Sorry it happened to you, but most people won't have the issues.

It doesn't matter what brand you buy now days, if it's new and you plan on keeping it past the warranty, buy and extended warranty from a reliable source that isn't scalping them or get the dealer to match cost. Granger for example is 8 years 125k for around 1300. Over the years, that's cheap insurance. Even pre COVID it was heading this direction and I never used to advocate for warranties but having had 4 new vehicles since 2020, I'll never buy one without them again. At least now, no matter what happens, I'm covered financially.

The biggest reason isn't even the fact that vehicles are basically rolling software updates and we are beta testers, it's the cost. Can people really afford to keep trading in every 3 years at 7%+ interest? Nope. No way that's a smart strategy.

Most of the hybrid issues are software and 12V battery related. Mechanically speaking, the 2.5 hybrid has been around since about 2005 and is one of the most reliable powertrains out there. They just need to perfect the software.
I just got a recall today for BOTH Mavericks (24S27/NHTSA 24V293) with a new needed BCM calibration because one or the other taillight might go out due to a "current overload."

These guys at Ford need to stop all that fancy BS and hire an engineer who made cars in the 1960s to teach them the value a basic 12 volt systems...they don't always need an extra computer module to do something simple. Someone has completely abandoned the K.I.S.S. principle.

Where'd you get 8yr/125k for 1300? even $200 deductible is more than that

I ask again: What are the substandard parts?
I am not an automotive engineer, and neither are the majority of Maverick owners. But I have had all the software updates, and my Maverick still WANTS to do the hybrid shudder, but is being suppressed. My Maverick still WANTS to do the low speed stopping lurch, but is being suppressed. Ford's software fixes amount to you taking some cough suppressant. Your body still wants to cough, but is being drugged to not cough. My Maverick still shudders and lurches, but it's been lessened by compensating software, not fixed. And how is the new software update supposed to stop the catastrophic engine failures that result in the fires? Software doesn't fix faulty blocks of whatever the real issue is.

So… No substandard parts?

Prove that the myriad of issues AREN'T caused by substandard parts. Oh, wait, you can't. If the software fixes don't actually fix the problem, the next place to look is either mechanical design or parts quality. Ford doesn't want to acknowledge that, so we get software bandaids.

8 Year 100k then. It was an estimate. Regardless, the point I made is still relevant. Obviously if you drive more you will pay more. It's arguable that even the 127k for 10 years is still worth it. Also, you are on the $50 deductible with that chart.

It is an increasingly common issue. The more brains they give it the more updates it needs. Now everything wants to communicate with ALEXA too...

Here I am... still plugging in my phone to charge it. Until they start including wireless chargers and wall adapters with each specified devices limitations, I'll keep it simple. Spend $50 every new device for a new charger, cable, and adapter.... /rant

Yes I know. 200 deductible isn’t crazy amount less either

Then ditch it.
