I love the dial shifter, a big dumb shifter sticking out of the console is such an annoyance and eyesore. Jacket sleeves get caught on it, it takes away usable volume, it's clunky and just plain makes every vehicle with one look like it has an interior from the 90s. I spent two days with a maverick and found that the dial shifter was super intuitive and easy to use.

I don't really care for the dial shifter and especially the way the dial just continues to turn. They could of at least set it to turn to each position, but not spin around and around. I would prefer a shifter, but I've gotten use to it for the most part. Not looking to try to change it. It is what it is.

Just put a Muncie in it…or buy what you want instead of buying something you don’t want in the first place.
Who, in their right mind, would buy a brand new vehicle and want such a significant modification because it’s what you’re used to? Just buy the F150 and be done with it.
it's all about the tradeoffs and what you can live with. I was never crazy about the idea of the tiny short bed + crew cab only configuration, the dial shifter, or the touch screen and other added technology I don't want in my vehicles. However the positives still outweighed the negatives for me on the vehicle.

First car with a dial and l love it. Other than reverse you can rotate the dial as times as you want for park or drive. With low being a push button there is no chance of going into that like I would accidently do once and a while in my Sonic. Even if the Mav had a lever it wouldn't be connected to the trans like the olden days, it would still be an electrical connection. If you are feeling extra lazy you don't even have to shift into park, it will do that on its own if you shut the truck off while in gear.
And you can just turn off the truck and get out with it still in drive.

i would like to ask all, does anyone like the diel shift. i personally do not like it. so I am on a mission to see if there is a way to put a hand held shift like an f150. does anyone agree. thank you
I like it a lot. If it were a shifter lever then it would interfere with the phone getting plugged in and placed for driving. It would also interfere with the cup holders.

It only took a little while to get used to it vs my shifter in my formar 2015 Honda Fit.

For all the bitching that reviewers do about it  I think it is just that "getting used to something different". I mean come on all you do is put the truck in gear and drive its not like you are on a race track shifting constantly.

I have had it for 3 months just don't like it . it is a sport truck should have a hand shift.
Since when did the Maverick become a "sport" truck? It's clearly marketed as an "economy" truck with emphasis on "low cost". If you really want a "sport" truck, get a Raptor ;)

Call me an innovator I just like things the way I like. not that you are wrong you are 100% in the wright, but just looking at it bothers me. I'm so used to having my hand on the shifter.
Nope... Dials are stupid!

When you hop in your truck and want to express your connection to that powerhouse machine you're sitting in and in control of, you want to grab that handle and "Slam" it into drive and then hit the gas... not "Twist the dial"

It's a consperecy to try and soften us up as americans (not really).

Even jets have a little "Feel and push" built into the stick and the "yok" i believe it's called.

However, I'm also not interested in breaking whatever warrantee I get swapping things out.

Isn’t that the opposite of “innovation?” Going back to the way things were?

I have not had a dial shift but I’m looking forward to it. It looks low and out of the way. Which is nice, since my dog has happily knocked my traditional shifter out of gear in my current vehicle.
Your right about the dog... less chance of knocking shifter...at least mine will be a little more comfortable as I fight to push him off my lap all the time while driving..LOL!

Being a old man i would much prefer a center console with a floor type shifter or lever on the column.but they dont build cars for old folks🙃
I'm one of those OLD folks and an glad they no longer build cars for old folks that live in the dark ages. 😍

One thing that I barely used in previous vehicles was the paddle shifter and I only used it if I was going to the Wester Slope and was taking a pass, I liked it a lot going down, saved the brakes. I have taken the passes with others w/out paddle shifters by simply down shifting a gear or two in an automatic. But I have no clue what gear I'm in with the Maverick. There is no way to downshift is there? Haven't taken Monarch yet. Anybody have experience with extreme twisty slopes for miles and miles?
