, but it is interesting that the section in the owners manual about the vehicle doing better on 91 octane in some situations does not seem to differentiate between hybrid and eco-boost. Apparently Ford thinks it is better for either engine...
It's an open (and frustrating) secret that Ford really needs better editors.

that the hybrid won't benefit from more octane (but will benefit from more cleaners) is a basic matter of physics, chemistry, and engineering.

The Ecoboost is mapped to 91 octane. The 2.5L is mapped to 87.
various sources I've read seen to suggest that the ecoboost line is actually calibrated for 97, and pulls back from that as the baseline.

In high altitude Albuquerque you can only get 86 or 91, so I run top tier 91 from Costco or Allsups. Running 86 voids the warranty according to the manual
86 at high altitude is pretty much the same as 87 at low altitude. That’s why they’re allowed to sell it. So I’d use 86 regular in areas where that’s the only regular offered. It’s safe to do so. By the way , I’ve never seen ford ask for a fuel sample for warranty purposes unless there was evidence of actual fuel contamination such as water or rust reported by the dealer

No, only in a NA engine. With a turbo engine, high altitude is like sea level, so the low octane is insufficient.

I have a '25 hybrid, I usually get 89/91. The gas station I usually go to has 'Top Tier' gas which has all the detergents in it already. I'll usually get 89, but if I'm at a regular station somewhere and get 87, when I get back down to half tank I'll get the top tier 91.

There are apps for phones to find all Top Tier stations in your area or if traveling, I myself only use Top Tier fuels

I worked for BMW back in the day, we were having problems with the 318, the vehicle would run rough with AC also had lack of power on steep inclines [ basically was a dog]
The vehicle had carbon problems, they told us to recommend to customers to use Techron, that went over big with customers, point is those German engineers aren't stupid, the stuff works, cleans valves and can add some power? the GEEK says add when changing your oil 3k, most of us smart guys are changing at 5k, which is fine and strongly recommended by almost all techs, So for you guys that are going to keep your Maverick long term a extra 12 bucks for Techron wont kill ya. I keep a vehicle about 3/4 years I do my first oil change oil at 2k and every 5k after that, it may be excessive for a Hybrid but this is my first Hybrid and not taking any chances, a few hundred bucks over 3/4 years wont kill me and cant hurt. I have seen lots of engines with sludge, valves loaded with carbon, turbo or not that change oil at 10k. Ford won't be there to help you at 80/90/100k. All you will get is a SORRY CHARLIE.

Been running real gas,
93 octane NON ETHANOL getting 28-31 mpg’s .
My ethanol free pump broke down, been back on 93 octane premium ethanol.
After a near empty fill up my
Mpg’s are now 27-29

Just sayin ~
There are only two places out where I live that offer non-ethanol fuel. One has 87 & 93 non-ethanol, and the other has 89. I have not run the 93 exclusively because it's almost $5.00 per gallon. I have never used the 10% ethanol fuel, but I imagine that is what the dealer filled it up with when I picked it up in March '23.

In my own Ecoboost, 91+ (I'm in a high elevation state, 91 is max here)
I'm in the heat during the summer. Managing heat related knock/ping is a real thing, under heavy loads. (Towing or 'aggressive driving'.)

Ecoboost will adapt to octane quality. To include timing management.
Advancing timing will have an effect on performance.

I believe 91+ is both better for the [EB] engine (long term), especially at higher RPMs, boost levels, when under load (grades/higher elevation) and better for performance (if not just slightly on the Stock tune). It may not even show up in 0-60 testing, but 0-60 is not the only parameter (contrary to American belief...) to 'performance' and 'feel' from the engine responsiveness.

The masses may or likely will not notice a difference, and only see it as "it costs more, why would I". Thats fine, then go ahead and run that 87 and drive in Chill (eco) mode all the time.
Thats not why I prefer and own an EB though.

It’s an Ecoboost thing.

I run my 22 non hybrid on 87 reg fuel. Hearing people get more horsepower and better for engine to run on high test. Any opinions?
I was running on 89, but at last fill-up, I saw there was only a 10-cent difference between 89 and 93 (huge difference 87 and 89). So, I filled up with 93, and what a difference it made. I thought I was going to have to load the bed with rocks just to keep the thing on the ground!
