It's an open (and frustrating) secret that Ford really needs better editors., but it is interesting that the section in the owners manual about the vehicle doing better on 91 octane in some situations does not seem to differentiate between hybrid and eco-boost. Apparently Ford thinks it is better for either engine...
that the hybrid won't benefit from more octane (but will benefit from more cleaners) is a basic matter of physics, chemistry, and engineering.
various sources I've read seen to suggest that the ecoboost line is actually calibrated for 97, and pulls back from that as the baseline.The Ecoboost is mapped to 91 octane. The 2.5L is mapped to 87.
