OK, so it finally happened to me. Drove about a half mile to the grocery store. Got an app message re: Sleep Mode while shopping. When I got out to the car, the dash animation did not light up with unlocking the door, but the car started up fine and seemed to drive normally. I called a local Ford dealership and spoke to a service advisor. He recommended that I bring the car into the Quick Lane for a battery test, which I did this morning. After about an hour and a half, they let me know that the batter was tested, was bad, and was replaced. Unfortunately, it looks like they replaced it with another standard flooded battery - not an AMG. The work and battery were covered under the warranty.
From what I have read on the forum, it seems that rather than doing the right thing, they just replaced a flooded battery that died in 10 months with another one, despite the multiple posts that suggest it requires an upgraded battery.

Hopefully by mid 2025, a software update and a battery swap with be considered by Ford.

The tech only did what the Service Mgr told him to do. The Service Mgr. was doing what Ford said they would do under warranty.
What makes sense doesn't happen.
What happens doesn't make sense.
...and that makes sense to Ford.

There is supposed to be a fix for the battery issue, Q1 of 2025. Even if it's not available until the end of Q1, your replacement battery should last that long (hopefully).

If you get another indication of low battery, just put the truck on a battery tender periodically.

Admittedly a rant, but not directed at you personally.

I don’t want to have to put any external charging on my $40,000 6 month old vehicle. And I don’t and shouldn’t have to spend any $$ replacing a battery. And finally I shouldn’t have to take my vehicle in for service/maintenance for such an issue.

I have done the charging to keep my vehicle running. But I sure as shit don’t have to like it.

I feel you man! My Maverick is the first Ford I have purchase in over 35 years. My last Ford had "electrical issues" that never got resolved. The radioator fan would not come on and the car would overheat. The car would just stall out of nowhere. Fuses would blow. Dealer couldn't find the answer. Swore I wouldn't buy another Ford.

35 years of Toyota cars with no problems. In 2015, I purchased a Prius. Fell in love with 48-50mpg and low maintenance. But I needed a truck. I didn't want to spend $70,000 on a truck, Have payments of $1,000 per month and spend over $1,000 a month in gas.

Then along came the Maverick..............Hybrid! I was sold on the looks. I reviewed the performance of the engine with the Focus and really liked what I read. So I bit the bullet and bought a 2023 XLT. 6 weeks after owning it I came out the truck in the morning to a completely dead battery! Visions of 35 years ago started dancing in my head.

After everyone in here calmed me down and after going to the dealer and them not being to help me, I bit the bullet and bought my own AGM battery. Battery hasn't died and truck is running fine. I'm at a place in my life where I do what I can when I can. I'll fight with the dealer on a bigger issue for another day. CV axles will probably be my next adventure. Hopefully by the time I need to have my changed out, Ford has gotten better quality ones than the originals.

But I totally respect you for being pissed and wanting out.

At least they didn't give you the corporate spiel about how you need to drive the truck more often and that the deep sleep is for its own protection. While that may be true, it's no excuse. The hybrid is not new technology and Ford should have allowed for the drain with a better battery or a better monitoring system.

I don't like feeling the need to put a battery tender on my $23,000 1-year-old Maverick, either. But I also live over an hour away from the nearest dealer. A dealer that, tbh, I don't want to deal with. Since I haven't had any battery problems, I will continue to put the tender on it when I'm not driving it for a few days. Whether it helps, remains to be seen. I do know it will prolong the battery life and that is one of the reasons I do it. I definitely do not feel one should have to do this with a brand new vehicle though.

Also, I've used battery tenders on other vehicles because I don't like to have to buy new batteries. I've gotten seven and eight years out of several auto and lawn mower batteries, with nothing more than a little maintenance.

So I've gotten maybe my sixth sleep mode message in my 3 month old 2024 Lariat. And now my interior and bed lights don't come on when I unlock or open the truck door. But when I shutdown and open the door, the lights come on. Is this the start of it?
Should I do the negative battery cable to body connection scraping the paint off?

I learned years ago that putting any battery on a maintainer periodically would double or triple it's usable life. I graduated HS with a guy who recycled batteries instead of mowing yards and odd jobs, etc. Made more $ that way selling rebuilt batteries at 1/2 price of new with trade in. Also sold lead for fishing weights, bullets, etc. had 10-30 batteries most of time on his home built big a$$ maintainer. In any case Ford can better handle the charging of the 12v battery which I feel they will get done soon. Until then I will continue to use my noco genius 5 and 10 on all my batteries. Unfortunately or fortunately depending on how I look at it my neighbor upgraded his solar battery bank and I now have 16 6 volt deep cycle 400 ah batteries that need TLC. I think I can get 2k or more cycles out of 12 of them.

I guess i'm finally going to have to put a charge on mine also to get me to Ford's fix. Had my 5000 mile Mav two weeks short of a year with no Ford pass and fuse 11 removed. Last night the courtesy lights did not come on when entered and my Scangauge II showed 11.3 volts. No recalls done yet, maybe I can get everything done at once when the fix comes in, 4-6 months? Will change oil myself in few days.

Guys, I have a question about the NOCO 5. Do you use the points under the hood, or do you use the actual battery terminals when making magic with the NOCO 5?

P.S. I just bought the NOCO5 from Amazon and my truck has the original battery from 5-2022 and 35k miles on it.

From reading here, yes use the under hood terminals. OR yes use the positive battery terminal and a negative point on the other side is the BMS box that is attached to the negative terminal. That keeps the BMS ‘aware’ of the charging.

For my money, the under hood points are so easy, just seems the better choice.

This ☝
I have done this for decades and it is true. And I would've done it on the Maverick, too, even if it didn't have the obvious battery issues so often posted about on MTC.

I have an fx4 ecoboost. I only use it for doing truck stuff because my daily driver is an EV. And because sunshine is free and gasoline is not, I avoid driving the Maverick if my EV can do the job. So I hadn’t driven it, or even started it up for a month and a half or so. I’ve been meaning to take it for a short jaunt, like to the gym or to get groceries, but I keep forgetting. So I finally remembered yesterday, to see if it would even start. Yup, started right up. No seconds thoughts about the battery.
