Thanks for the writeup, I just ordered a new APIM on Ebay. Any chance you know if the stock Lariat cluster can do turn by turn directions on it? Looks like that all digital Escape cluster can, but I prefer to keep my analog gauges. That was part of what I loved so much about this truck.
It won't, you would need the Escape digital cluster, if you search on here someone has done the Escape cluster. The best I could do is turn on the speed sign recognition for the cluster using Forscan.

Has anybody tried to upgrade to Sync 4? I read it was just the apim that needed to be changed.

I did some more research since I asked that and I'm willing to bet we can get it to work. It works on the smaller non lariat version of the cluster in other vehicles so it has to on the larger lariat screen. See this thread on the focus ST forum. It might just need something changed in the cluster with forscan. Otherwise there are a couple of other settings in the BCM that need to be set.

I'll try it out as soon as my apim arrives and will report back

After installing my nav apim and turning on "Navigation repeater" in the IPC, the cluster now shows turn by turn directions. Maybe this will finally prevent me from missing turns on long trips 🤪.

Cool, I didn't know that setting when I installed mine.

Thought about buying an 3.4 Apim for my Maverick in order to add Navigation but figured it would void warranty. I’ve been using my iPhone and after 3-4 trips to places that I’m already familiar with I feel comfortable with using google maps, so probably won’t add the upgrade Apim.

I successfully added Navigation to my Maverick Lariat on Saturday, it actually wasn't all that hard. I first want to thank zackmd1 and the other guys who responded on the "How To: Sync 3/4 swap for non Sync 3 XL/XLT" thread for showing detailed descriptions of how to go about replacing a APIM module.

So I took the plunge and bought a Sync 3.4 APIM from a vendor on eBay. He told me that since he hadn't dealt with anyone trying to install this on a Maverick he couldn't guarantee that it would work but also said if it didn't I could send it back for a full refund. Everything appears to be working so far.

Also got a bonus, it added the climate tab.

I have 2024 Lariat, Manual says I can have 3D presentation for maps. It does not work. Ask the dealer. Stated Ford has probably disabled. as it was unreliable. The individual said it is the same for his 2024 F150. Anyone else have this problem?

Just curious, do you guys with lariat Lux and sync 3. Do you have the power flow app that shows your truck and whether it’s running on battery, engine, etc? My wife’s escape PHEV has it and wanted to know if the Mavs got that with sync 3.
Yes

Update: traded my 22 eco that had no navigation so I was using iPhone maps, traded for a 23 hybrid with navigation. Tried the ford navigation and decided I prefer the map app on my phone. Bought wife a 24 hybrid and we’ve not even tried the ford navigation.

My 24 Lariat has Nav. But when I plug in my iPhone, the Ford Nav tab disappears.

The biggest problem with OEM's navigation systems are there outdated even when they've been updated. Usually by a year or two.

Your best bet is always using app-based navigation whether Google maps or Garmin, Waze etc...

I recently bought a new Garmin DriveSmart 65 w/traffic GPS to use on my snowmobile. I was able to buy the snowmobile trail maps for the upper midwest from map company in Michigan. For that purpose it works very well, better than a cell phone, even with the On X offroad app. Nice large display, too.

I decided to see how well it worked in my Maverick, and compare it with Waze. With the same destination they both gave different routing. This could be due to settings such as avoidances, etc. But how the Garmin dealt with me not following the route it recommended was a letdown. It also reported I use a round-a-bout to turn around when there was much closer and easier ways to have gotton back on course.

It cofirmed, to me atleast, that Waze and Google Maps are hard to beat for vehicle navigation. Garmin did not do it. Now, if a person has spotty cell phone signal, Garmin or the in vehicle GPS might make more sense.

I’ve got a 23 and 24 lariat Maverick that has Navigation, but when I had my 22 Lariat Maverick it did not have Navigation. I started using google maps and then one day my iPhone switched me to Apple Maps. I think Apple Maps and google maps are much better than Ford Navigator and will only use it if I don’t have cellular service.
