I have a 2022 hybrid that I'm planning to start towing an enclosed trailer turned camper with electric brakes (Im in the mountains and would rather have the brakes than not, im not here for the "you dont need trailer brakes" discussion). The redarc system seems easy enough and is the current plan, but I was wondering how OEM I can stay. Does anyone have any documentation on the difference between the wiring under the dash/to the lights on the hybrid vs the 4k tow package? The brake controller and 7/4 pin seem to be standard across ford trucks 2015 and later so I was thinking a salvage yard to get those and then order the gain and manual brake panel, if everything else is possible.
I think it'd just be nice to have it integrated if at all possible, but again I've heard nothing but good about the redarc, so I'm not upset if that's genuinely the better option. This is mostly for the conversation and probing the possibility. Thanks all

I put a Curt echo on the SUV I had prior to the Maverick with 4K. Very simple if you already have a 4 pin. I still have it somewhere if you're interested. They run about $190. Read up on them and if you're still interested, I sell mine for $75.

Go the aftermarket route.

OEM is not really an option as it requires software your truck does not have.

You also have no pre-strung wires under the dash. You need to run your own wires to the rear, but's it's as simple as one to three wires.

I assume you already have the first 4 wires at the back for lamps.

5th wire - trailer brake

6th wire (optional) backing up white bulbs on your trailer (if equipped, many are not).

7th wire (optional) constant 12v positive for trailer battery charging.

I appreciate the offer but I would like a proper 7-pin running to the trailer since I'm going to have back up Lamps and I'd probably like to run some bit of 12v back there.

That answers it then, If I don't have the hardware nor software, I'll just snag the redarc and run it. Thanks for the info

You didn't read up on it. It is a real 7 pin with all that. You just don't have to run wires into the cab for controller as it's adjusted by phone. You plug the 4 pin into the 7 pin for lights and run an additional hot to the 7 pin. BTW, mine is no longer available.

@Barrett

I second @The Real Maverick 's notes on this.

And as you already noted you want continuous +12V on the 7-pin plug. You can now run a proper 10AWG wire to the 7-pin connector fused at the battery with a 30A fuse. Note that the Hybrid will supply 14.5-15.2V (charging the onboard vehicle battery) but also have long periods of only 13V on the 12V system (not charging), and at that time your camper battery won't charge either. To prevent that, you'll need to install a proper DC-DC charger in the camper which will convert 13V on the 7-pin into 14.4V to charge you camper battery.

My RedArc installation notes in the link below:
