Installing an aftermarket brake controller

Has anyone installed an aftermarket brake controller?? Is there a pigtail near the steering column for plug and play ease? Thanks in advance. My wife and I bought a travel trailer within the capabilities of our Maverick, but I want to use the trailer brakes anyway because SAFETY. Thanks in advance.

No ready to go harness in the hybrids so I doubt yours has one.

But it's low cost and easy to add one yourself or have someone do it.

Wires and 7-pin: under $50
Aftermarket brake controller: $100-$250 depending how fancy you want to get.

Thanks for the info. I was hoping to use the factory wiring for ease of installation but I installed a 4 pin to 7 pin adapter and had the 7 pin wired appropriately. Going to be using the Curt Echo Bluetooth brake controller.

I am going with the Autowbrake and installing behind the bumper on the left side. Using power from the bed 12v. Should be really easy. Hardest is mounting the 7 pin plug.

The bed 12v is only a 20amp circuit. If you need more amps you need to go elsewhere.

It is only a single axle (2 brake) trailer. That Ford provided circuit works fine and the Autowbrake controller works flawless.
