Accident while towing, holiday ruined

Wow, hate to see all that. The good thing is everyone is OK, thats the most important!
That hitch receiver sure seems out of wack. Make sure they check the crumple zones underneath the bed for damage.

Aren't the hitch receiver frame mounted? Then wouldn't that indicate that the whole thing is bent and the vehicle is going to crab walk down the highway? (I mean somehow mounted/connected to the unibody.....)

It was July 21, I was on my way with my pop up camper to the camping site to meet my brother and some friends for a whole week of holiday in great company. Unfortunately I never made it. About Half way there when the traffic slow down because of roadwork, the car behind me never brake, hit me in the trailer and push me in the minivan in front of me, then hit me a second time. Results: camper is totalled, maverick have at least 21 000$ in damage (in Canadian money) and my holiday are ruined.

With these damage and all the thread about rear ended mavericks being totalled, I was sure mine will be also and I started to tell to myself it was the best time to order a 2025. Until my insurance said nope, we are fixing it. All that I learned is that they asked the body shop to check some precise parts and they were undamaged so they will fit it.

am I the only one to think that repair of that value will cause a big value loss? I am now waiting for soon 2 months, they told me 1 part ordered is still back order

Haha, no. Canadian dollar actually is worth around 0.75$ American so it’s the opposite, around 15.5k$ in American money

That is not how it works in the U.S. and it has never worked that way. The only time your insurance is going to cut a check for an accident another person caused is if they didn't have insurance and you had uninsured motorist coverage.

You do realize that every State in the USA makes their own car insurance laws? There are 12 States that have No Fault insurance (like Quebec), and they do exactly that. You deal with your insurance regardless of who is at fault.

I still struggle with the idea that an insurance company would write a check for repairs their covered party isn't liable for just to have to go chase down that money. So strange. Glad I don't live in an area that does it this way. I imagine rates are higher on average as the insurance company is taking risks they don't elsewhere.

I had a rear-end mess years ago (not with a Maverick) and the repairs were almost half the value of the car. Insurance was happy to "fix" it, but when I tried to sell later, the value drop was brutal.

Back then I worked with Angel Reyes & Associates here in Texas, they knew exactly how to push back on the insurer and get a fairer outcome. Even if nothing changes, at least you’ll know you didn’t leave money on the table.
