Do you mean ceramic coating as for tinting the windows? If so, I've heard the ceramic is far better than a regular film type tint.
Ceramic tint is built into the tint and it’s going to provide UV protection from within the tint. It is more superior than standard tint.

Ceramic coating the outside will provide UV protection but also makes the exterior glass very hydrophobic. It’s going to make it ultra slick therefore making it hard for anything to cling to the glass. It’s going to make water run right off of it. I haven’t used windshield wipers in years due to the fact that water shoots right off at speeds over 30mph. It’s almost makes the rain look like you’re going light speed in Star Wars.

Not ceramic tint (although that's superior to dyed films). Ceramic coating the glass makes it highly water resistant like Rain-X except more durable and easier to clean.

Phenomenal difference! Know anyone in the Phoenix area?
I would highly recommend talking to the Parker brothers at Detail Boss in Scottsdale. YOU WONT BE DISAPPOINTED!

I am also wondering, will the ceramic coating protect the paint from rock chips and scratches at some degree? Thanks again!
It can help minimize the damage but to truly protect from rock chips you’ll have to PPF the front.

Yes, thank you. Was not too happy at first because it seemed like they were trying to paint me in the wrong light but any press is good press, I guess. As a detailer and as someone who has frequented this forum for the last 6 months, I felt it was my duty to put this info out there and try to help save anyone from making any costly mistakes. I sure appreciate all the info I’ve gotten on here so why not share my experience.

guess they don't ask permission to use people's photos and thoughts on those sites?
Yeah no contact whatsoever. I guess that’s not important these days.

An absolutely fantastic post OP. I'm going to watch this thread and re-read it multiple times to pick up on your techniques. There's a lot to learn from your craft. I really appreciate the time and effort you put into the work on the truck and educating me on how to maintain the exterior of my future Maverick.
Thank you for the kind words! Good luck 👍

congrats - you're probably my favorite forum poster.

love the tasteful wheels - love that thing polished up even more.

its so sad that people are $%$%%@#$ up their trucks with painted mirrors, or some shoddy vinyl, bad wheels. you have achieved 'better than stock'.

id like to see your truck lowered slightly. still great job.

Wow thank you, I’m flattered. This was my first time every posting a thread on a forum like this and I am blown away by the love and support from everybody! I agree, but I think there is a lack of legit information on these subjects on the internet. Its more monkey see, monkey do lol.

If I don’t end up adding a mobile detailing trailer to my arsenal, you can probably plan on a slight lower.. until they come out with a proper suspension lift for it. Then we might have to raise her up a little 🫠

I have a California Car wash (basically a fancy type of dry mop that picks up dirt off the vehicles). Could I use this on it to "wash" it or would that do more harm? I haven't had a Ford in years and am starting to look at the ceramic coating as I do remember Ford's paint didn't last near a long or as well as the other vehicles we had.
I personally would not use one of those mop type mechanisms to wash your vehicle, it can greatly increase your chances of marring the paint when washing. I would look up two bucket wash method, pick a soap that is ceramic coating safe or ph neutral, and go about it in that way. Hope that helps.

Hahaha you’re very right, my friend. I was blown away when I started getting sent the articles and seeing how they can twist your words. One said “Sub Par” and those words never came out of my mouth. But they aren’t wrong lol. I’ll take it as a compliment I guess lol.
Thank you for your great postings. I learned a lot! BTW, I read the ford authority article. IMHO the replies to it were from putz's.

I ordered a cyber orange Maverick, it has the metallic paint. How does the ceramic coating affect it meaning will it still "change color" in different lights or will it always be the lighter school bus yellow?
A ceramic coating will enhance the look of your paint overall. So if you have flake in there, it’s going to make it pop. If you have a flat color, it’s going to give it more rich look by adding depth and gloss. However, it won’t change the color of the vehicle.

I think Cyber Orange is close to the Tangerine Scream that was on the Focus ST and that color almost looks wet when it’s coated. Quite beautiful if you ask me.

No factory wax and thankfully they don’t use cosmoline anymore so you shouldn’t have to worry about that. If I’m going to strip something though, I’ll use Adams Strip Soap.
Thanks so much. My plan is basically to

  • Two bucket wash the whole car with Adams Car Shampoo (ph neutral, no protectants)
  • Adams Iron Remover, RInse and Dry
  • Clay bar
  • IPA Wipe
  • Hopefully only need to polish with Meguiars Ultimate + their polish pad and a DA
    • Hand polish where necessary
  • IPA Wipe
  • Adams Ceramic Coat + Graphene all the surfaces

Let me know if you think that basically should do it! I have alto blue and think this will bring out a crazy depth to the paint

(and others I may have missed)

I'm pretty far back on the learning curve on this topic. Rather than try to hit you up for recommended detailers in my area, just curious if there is some sort of trade group certification I could be looking for to at least have some idea that someone is competent and qualified?
