70k miles 2022 Ecoboost 12v battery dead (stock AGM)

Battery finally died on my Mav. Came out and it wouldnt start. Topped charged it and it got another week but it was clearly done, could barely crank the engine after a top charge.

Ive never had battery issues and I got the stock AGM, wasnt part of the recall or all the people that got the crappy non AGM battery.

Still pretty surprised that it didnt even last 4 years, especially since I deactivated Auto start/stop years ago, saving hundreds of starts on the battery.

I figured you would get 5-7 years on a AGM.

Just curious what life people got out of their stock AGM batteries...

Replaced with the Everstart AGM for 200$ from Walmart Walmart AGM H6 and its all good again.

I got a new AGM battery last year thanks to the recall. It seems to be hard to get more than 4 years on a battery these days!

I got a new AGM earlier this year for my '22 Ecoboost in that recall. At the time of replacement, my old battery was about 3.5 years old. I was noticing it starting to crank a little slower, but had no non-starting issues.

I'm not surprised these batteries don't last as long anymore. There are a lot more electronics on these vehicles that are running, even after shutting off the truck. You'll hear relays clicking even as much as 20 minutes after shutdown. These batteries have more things to "keep alive" even when the engine is off.

While I certainly don’t have the knowledge to agree nor disagree these newer vehicles are not your grandpas vehicle. All that crap (excuse me, updates) has to wear on the battery I would imagine.

I tried an AGM in my 81 GS1000 but it died in about 40 days. Total recharged it but not enough cranking amps to crank the engine. That AGM was made in India, so ordered a regular old wet cell from local NAPA, it was made in Viet Nam and so far it's good. NAPA warranty. I have the OEM, AGM battery in my Mav, it's 24 months old and no problems, yet. I think all these newer batteries have digital clocks in them that count down the months of warranty. When the clocks get to zero, they short the battery out and kill it.

Never counted on more than 4 yrs from a battery, most only have a 2 yr warranty and many are prorated so if you had a 3yr and it was 2yrs old you only got 1/3 refund- the top Walmart battery had a full 3yr and I got several replaced under it (that means they lasted less than 3). So, not sure what all the talk about “only 4 yrs is” - I want them to last that long or longer and some do and I am then very happy based on the way things are vs the way I want things to be. ( I did have one last 7 yrs and and that was cause to celebrate). Thankfully, with good BCM the hybrid /bev batteries last longer (not lead acid and a whole dif story).

" finally" ? The last new vehicle i bought, a 2010 ram, the factory battery lasted almost 9 years. If our stock mavericks battery only lasts 4 years i will be disappointed. What has happened to battery technology? Side note...the AC delco battery i put in the ram lasted 7 years. I have a everstart (walmart) battery in another vehicle thats 8 years old and still working. I will contine to buy walmart replacement batteries. Plus, they are less expensive.

From our last 2 vehicles both having AGM batteries, 2018 Audi & 2020 Ford Escape Hybrid, the factory installed AGM batteries lasted 4-5 years. Both were upgraded one size when I replaced them. Both were started with a lithium jump pack & externally charged twice before replacement. Now I know to replace AGMs at the first sign of trouble.....

I don't think battery technology has any thig to do with the batteries only lasting 4 years in the Maverick!! It's all the electronic crap I often hear the Maverick making noises when it's not running!! Not sure why they do this but I'm sure it's not good for battery life!!

Curious if your 70K number is for the battery, the Maverick, or both. If battery, I'd say you got your money's worth.
