Great post. But some just like to hear themselves complain, I guess. The Maverick is a "want", not a necessity - but it's hard to tell that with the way some of these folks act about it. America, and particularly Ford buyers, are probably going to have to get over this instant gratification culture. They want this build-to-order thing to be the new norm even post-pandemic.
Actually for me and my business the Maverick is a need. My choosing to order the hybrid Maverick was a business decision. And like many other curmudgeons, you're missing the point about allocation. Why is a person who ordered the exact same vehicle that I ordered, yet ordered it 3 months after I ordered getting their vehicle before I got mine? The answer is allocation.
They ordered from a different dealer than I did. Ford does not provide the information to allow you to know that where you order the vehicle will have bearing on when you get your vehicle. I ordered 3 months before he did but he ordered from a different dealer therefore he got his vehicle before I get mine, that is BS. And we were both priority 10.
But again, I like popcorn.

Oh yeah, that Loon who also produced this glittering jewel of ignorance: https://www.motorious.com/articles/features-3/2021-disappointing-car-reveal/

Do you have anything from The Onion?
Just because he's alone and just because I tend not to like his articles does not mean there's not some truth in what he's having to say. If you don't think there's people in politics and government who want to control the masses by limiting transportation you might want to rethink that. Lemon has had cameras thousands of cameras for about 20 years now... They want to know everybody who's entering the city. That would never happen in the US right? I just read a story about a city, I believe is in Michigan that wants to put cameras all over so they can read and record every license plate that travels through the city. In fact there's a lawyer that does YouTube spots Steve Leito he also is on Vinwikki who speaks to this. Just because a person is paranoid and thinks everybody is out to get them doesn't mean there aren't people out to get them. The guy who wrote the article I provided the link to, maybe is a clown, I personally think he is, that does not mean there's not truth in the story he wrote.

In the fine print somewhere be it on the Ford website or at the dealer, it should have been stated that dealer allocation may have an effect when you receive your order. You know, full disclosure ...
Lots of things contribute to delay. Allocation does, of course. But so do the major option constraints, the chip shortage, the EPA certification, the shortage of hybrid components, the ... whatever.

I doubt there could be any really comprehensive disclosure that would also be comprehensible.

The Maverick has been compared to the Model T, and is said to cost less than the first 1909 Model T in constant $'s. In 1909 Ford built 10,660 Model T's, and production peaked in 1923 at 2,011,125. So they've already passed up the first year production of Model T's, I wonder it they will ever hit the 2 Million level of the Model T?

There should be some better transparency regarding allocation in regards to customer orders.

I can see allocations being a factor in dealer stock orders, but if Ford wants this "build to order" model to work, there should be a strong bias towards serving the customers in a fair manner.

Ford is pushing the build-to-order thing. Not their customers. At least not all of them. Many prefer the former model of inventory-on-lots.

Maybe you should cancel your maverick and order a Cybertruck.

I did order a cyber truck, My spot is 63,524.. seems a lot but not when you realize there's over 3,000,000 ordered the last time I checked...... However when I put my $100 down which by the way was a brilliant move by Elon Musk, 300 million dollar interest-free loan... When I put my $100 down I knew from the start that it was going to be a while.... Since I knew this would be the situation I have no issue with it. My expectations from Tesla vs Ford are dramatically different. Tesla is still basically a startup breaking new ground, new territory company... Ford is 100-year-old legacy car manufacturer and is breaking no new ground with the Maverick. If we're going to be completely honest, other than some slightly different panel pressings, a few trim pieces, there's almost nothing new about the Maverick, it's a parts bin vehicle.

607,568 is the number of Mustangs Ford was able to produce in 1966. That works out to about 50,600 Mustangs a month. Fast forward to 2021. Ford can barely produce 5,500 Mavericks a month. I'm in month 6 awaiting my Maverick. As of today I do not have a build date.
I just got off the phone with Ford customer service, I was told, off the record, that
I should expect it no sooner than April 2022. At first the reason was the pandemic and supply issues blah blah blah blah blah. And I do understand that to a point. But then I bring up the fact that I know the same exact vehicle that I ordered has been delivered to people that ordered well after I did... And then allocation was brought up as the real reason. It seems it really is not the pandemic at this point as it is allocation. I understand allocation as it may pertain if I wanted to buy a vehicle off the lot. I do not understand why it applies if I order my vehicle directly from Ford to be delivered to said dealership. One should have nothing to do with the other. So I went on to inquire as to why was I not told allocation would have bearing on when I get my vehicle, more so in fact than my order date. And I was told corporate could not give me that information, but the dealer could. Now what dealer would tell me that they do not have a large allocation and thus it will greatly delay when I get my Maverick, and risk not getting the sale? It really is BS.
Now I shall go make some popcorn and await the 'splaners to pontificate why I don't understand the big picture.
But facts are facts and in 1966 Ford produced over 600,000 Mustangs and in 2021 probably cannot produce 10% of that total in Mavericks in one model year.
Must be that back then the computer chips, er, um, punch cards were not an issue. 😉

The computer chips are an issue today because the big car manufacturers have continued to use 1990 chips made in antique obsolete wafer fabs. Had the car manufacturers chose to use modern chips in the cars they manufacture in 2021, we wouldn't have this issue. The car companies did this to themselves and now the consumers are paying the price.
