One thing everyone should remember is that during the release media events, Ford was gloating to everyone who would listen over how they took a year out of design/test and release the Maverick a year faster than other models. Yea, it showed.

In fairness to Ford, some of that time saved was by reusing the C2 platform. But I recall them touting abbreviated road testing because simulations were so good.

Yes, sadly year one is the beta test, and it shows. At least ours were cheaper. :ROFLMAO: But yeah, never again would I buy a year one (or a Ford).

Recalls can be so complicated... here's one example.

Supplier XYZ discovers they shipped faulty parts, despite their rigid quality control. Turns out other companies supply the same part to Ford, they all get loaded into the same bins at the assembly plant. Ford knows which parts are defective and how many (let's say 50), but they don't know exactly which vehicles they went into. So, you look at the maximum number of production days these parts could have been used, and you recall EVERY vehicle assembled in that time frame. Turns out they built 25,000 vehicles during that time. Yup- gotta recall 25,000 trucks to find the 50 that have the bad parts. Your chance of owning one of those 50? Do the math.

I was a Ford service advisor during the Contour/ Mystique era: OMG. The best one was the defective shift quadrant indicator needle. You know, that little orange needle next to the shift lever that moves back and forth to tell you what gear you're in? Well, it turns out that a whole lot of Formula 409 or Fantastik can degrade the plastic in that needle, causing it to come apart. Which means the needle can now flop back and forth, showing REVERSE when it's really in DRIVE, or something similar. When I say "a whole lot," I mean cleaning the console and soaking it with these cleaners like EVERY SINGLE DAY. Now the panic phone calls start...

CUSTOMER: "I got a recall notice that says my Contour's transmission is DANGEROUS!"

ME: Is that the shift quadrant recall?"

C: "Yes, that's the one- I gotta get my car in today because I'm afraid to drive it!"

ME: "Can I ask you one question: how many times have you washed your console?"

C: "... uhhh... I don't think I've ever actually washed it..."

ME: "okay, then for the time being you have nothing to worry about. This is only a problem for people that have drenched their consoles in 409 or Fantastik on a regular basis."

C: "well, what kind of an OCD moron would soak their consoles in cleaner once a week?"

ME: "Ma'am, that's a question the Ford engineers are grappling with as we speak..." ;)

This is helpful. Helps me understand the issues on the other end. I get it now.

A perfect example of this would be the airbag recall on early 2022s, the poorly welded inverter to 12v battery cables, and likely the crankshaft issue in hybrids. To me Ford's biggest problems aren't the small issues, it's the big ones. Things like people who have gone through multiple CV axles from MY22, 23 and even some 24s, which doesn't sound isolated to a small run, just a choice from Ford to not bother fixing the issue knowing that they'll just have to eat the cost while the vehicles are under warranty. After that it will be a cash cow, because people will have to get them done.

To me in the long run the software will be a far bigger issue than faulty parts, which as you say tend to not be anywhere near as big a problem in the real world. The real trouble is that software issues to take longer to isolate, because they are dealing with a number of manufactures and their software, which then has to interact with Ford's own stuff. That takes time to show up in the real world. We have seen this with the emissions recall, issues with ABS modules (3-4 updates to get the grabby brakes fixed), the infotainment, the on going deep sleep (battery control module) issues, and now the turn signal issue.

My '22 Lariat hybrid has been recalled at least four times. Just recently, it was for 23C41, Turn Signal Outage System. That fix was done just on 26 Jan 24. There's two recalls that they either don't have a fix for, or parts aren't available. I have nearly 20K on it. I have noticed that my mpg went from 43 mpg down to 34 mpg.

My wife has a '22 Escape hybrid and she also has the same two open recalls as I do.

Up to number 6 on my 22 XLT. 2 not completed with the serious one hanging over my Head.
Safety Recall Notice 23S27/NHTSA Recall 23V380
Engine could fail prematurely increasing the risk of fire.

Anyone else get this notice and the warm fuzzy feeling that it could occur?
My first Failure, wire harness left me stranded in Florida for 7 days and cost me over 1000 dollars in hotel and car rental fees waiting on repairs.
Ford Customer service told me basically I'm SOL in getting compensated. CAS-41611916-G7T6P4
Also just had a leak from front engine cover, (in shop for 7 days waiting on parts) under warranty and did get a loaner car after a day at least
Calgon, Take me away.
Ford does not give a SHI. about their vehicle owners

Anyone know why Ford sent out a third notice of this engine failure recall? The first one came out about a year and half ago (the one about drilling holes in the pan), and after that they sent one out about engine failure and possible engine fire as a result. Ford advised to schedule with dealer as soon as the parts come in. LOL. I just got another recall letter today with the same lame message about waiting for parts. Dear Ford, own up to the screw-up and just replace the damn engine. Probably cheaper than pulling the head and replacing the innards of the current engines.

Last time I had a vehicle break down on me when I was out of town, I found a way to get home and way to get back when it was fixed. Even though the vehicle was still under warranty, it never occured to me to expect the manufacturer to cover my living expences while they were fixing my truck for free.
You are the most confused commentator by far, not to mention incredibly "privileged" with this outlook. I hate using that term but it's true here.

They owe people loaners when vehicles sit in their service departments. End of story.

I had the privilege of reading page 13 in the warranty book...

Ford and your dealer are not responsible for any time or income that you lose, any inconvenience you might be caused, the loss of your transportation or use of your vehicle, the cost of rental vehicles, fuel, telephone, travel, meals, or lodging, the loss of personal or commercial property, the loss of revenue, or for any other incidental or consequential damages you may have.

This is why I never buy first year of something. One recall so far on my 23 ecoboost. (Turn Signal software update). I bought new 2010 ram,and 2010 caravan.14 years and no recalls on either.
Wise advice, but in my case my Colorado caught fire and burned up my home. I needed a truck to not only help rebuild my house, but also had the ability to flat tow. The 22 Maverick arrived just in time but I took the precaution of opting for the extended warranty. No much help on the recalls, but that was the expected consequences of buying a first year vehicle.

I have had 3 recalls on my '22 Mav EB 4WD. Two were software and 1 hardware (airbag recall). I was not having any issues related to these recalls but did them for the sake of resell value.

However, the one problem that I do have has been ignored by Ford...excessive battery drain!

I thought the EB's had a few recalls? I remember something about airbags, changing out the sticker on that inside of the engine compartment (did that at home - sticker was mailed) and now the Hyperflash recall with the signals...probably requiring blinker fluid. (KIDDING!!)

This is a strong argument against Chevy ownership...

So far the blinker software update is the only recall I have received for my truck. It was delivered May of 23.
