observing inflation is not political. assigning it to a party and bitching about said political association is where politics get involved.
pricing is a mix of increased cost and certainly increased profit, but the maverick remains a good deal and uniquely positioned in the marketplace.
my first edition ecoboost was $35,800 and I traded it a light profit (after/including tax and registration cost) for my current truck which was $36,550. replacing it now would cost $38,970* BUT you get sync4, 19x7.5 wheels (whether you want them or not, lol), protrailer backup assist (I would want it!), forward parking assist and 360 cameras (sometimes useful, but not really necessary).
if you bought a hybrid it's much different. they were wildly underpriced and they're much more now, yet still competitively priced in the marketplace.
* I edited this on 12/31/24 because I realized that $40,500 is what a Lobo 702A costs and I'd considered ordering one. The nearest equivalent to my current truck is a Lariat 2.0 awd with 4k tow and that is actually $38,970.
