observing inflation is not political. assigning it to a party and bitching about said political association is where politics get involved.

pricing is a mix of increased cost and certainly increased profit, but the maverick remains a good deal and uniquely positioned in the marketplace.

my first edition ecoboost was $35,800 and I traded it a light profit (after/including tax and registration cost) for my current truck which was $36,550. replacing it now would cost $38,970* BUT you get sync4, 19x7.5 wheels (whether you want them or not, lol), protrailer backup assist (I would want it!), forward parking assist and 360 cameras (sometimes useful, but not really necessary).

if you bought a hybrid it's much different. they were wildly underpriced and they're much more now, yet still competitively priced in the marketplace.

* I edited this on 12/31/24 because I realized that $40,500 is what a Lobo 702A costs and I'd considered ordering one. The nearest equivalent to my current truck is a Lariat 2.0 awd with 4k tow and that is actually $38,970.

forward parking assist?!? What is this magic.
I ask bc I don’t have much room in garage left so itl be tight I am going to hang me a little parking ball

is the forward parking annoying or anything to activate?

I notice the Maverick is a little touchy inching forward in hybrid election mode so gotta be careful getting close to my tool drawers

it can be defeated but it's on by default for '25 lariat, lobo, tremor. (the 360 camera and forward sensors come together, before anyone ordering a lower trim asks.)

it's very much like the rear parking sensor. it detects things, starts beeping faster and as you get nearer, and you get a popup on the infotainment panel graphically showing where the zone is that is alerting. the color changes from green to red.

just like the rear it isn't perfect by any means. it's very possible to collide with something if you're overconfident in it and assume you're clear. it will definitely alert on a brick wall. a 12" tall curb or 4" pole in the right placement... maybe not.

I’ve had this feature on other vehicles and haves wished my 24 Lariat had it too. It’s very helpful in the garage.

The Mav still starts at about $24K. The "norm" is the fact that we all want so many features, options, styling add-ons, etc. that it's routine to add $10-$20K to the price of a vehicle. At the end of the day Ford still offers a lot of value in the Maverick; buyers just spend a lot more for features that basically just make it a fancier transportation device. For 99% of day-to-day use, there's little that a base XL can't do compared to a loaded Lariat.

I actually just posted a reply on another thread about this situation, and while I'm not trying to get it political whatsoever, the facts, which don't care about anybody's political opinion, are what they are. The fact is, the truck's price increase has not kept up with inflation, and it is my belief that if Ford had not offered AWD and 4k options on the Maverick, they would have lost more money year-over-year for FY25 model than the FY22 model. I am more than good with the price increases, and I feel like they are doing the best they can do to balance still making a healthy profit for the company and still creating an economy truck in a new world where economy usually means anything sub-$60k.

Edit: Might I add they are also gearing up for having to move Maverick production back to the USA, which for the first year or two will be more costly. Again, just facts, no politics.
Nothing you said is a fact.

everything is opinion or false. even just inflation - which is unequal across various goods, but we have to use the government's official numbers for all the good or bad therein.

Maverick xl hybrid was available to configure in summer 2021 for $19,995 plus delivery & fees. today that xl hybrid is $26,395. (as many have noted, it was never '$20k out the door'.) that's a 32% increase, far more than official US inflation.

:ROFLMAO:

One of those "Facts don't care" folks, while making up facts. I guarantee I know your political leanings....

Point: The Maverick price increase has outpaced inflation by several times! The Maverick has increased, on the low end, by ~14%, and on the upper end of things ~20%. Inflation is 2.75%!

Ford was paying attention when people were spending $5,000 to $15,000 markups on the Maverick at launch. Why would Ford leave that money out on the table and let the dealers have it, when they can have it? The incredible increase in the cost of the truck is directly related to the demand and what buyers are willing to pay.

Are the options/features the same for the 22 XL Hybrid and the 25 XL Hybrid? I highly doubt it...

Inflation since 2019 is much higher than 2.7%. That was just the past 12 months figure. Here is a chart that shows annual inflation numbers. 2020-2024 total is 21%. If you don’t want to include 2020 then it was 19.6%

The average dealer markup on a 2022 Maverick was $4,614.
Ford Maverick $40K- the new norm? IMG_1886

Ford significantly underpriced the base mavericks to try to gain market share. But dealers caught on to that very quickly and repriced the Maverick to be more in line with what customers thought the vehicle was really worth, which made high profits for dealers through markups, while denying profits to Ford. It only made sense that Ford would increase the MSRP to be in line with what consumers were willing to pay for it. The out-the-door price in 2025 is only something like 7% higher than it was in 2022 because of the dealer markups.

asking rhetorical questions isn't a useful way to make an argument either for or against something. just say what you mean. (y)

I used that data point because it's easy and it's the base model offered by Ford Motor Company. it's meaningful in that regard because though Ford can add or delete features, the cheapest model is the cheapest model.

it is highly time consuming to analyze other configurations but it can be done.

the trim level I bought, a Lariat lux ecoboost awd 4k tow, has actually increased well under inflation from summer 2021 to now- is that a point you or anyone else were trying to make? the guy 710 quoted simply said the truck didn't keep up with inflation which I'm sure isn't true for any hybrid, and I'm not going to dig into the details on the XL and XLT ecoboost models.
