The El Camino is 2 door with no back seat. It's basically a low profile sports car with a small pickup bed. The Maverick is more 50/50 balanced in being sporty AND utilitarian. The El Camino is more 80/20. I'm sure it'll have a market. In general, 4 door pickup trucks out sell 2 door pickup trucks by a fairly wide margin...

I might be willing to give up the small area of the (tight IMO) Mav rear seat area for a 2dr style truck that might even get better MPG if hybrid and lighter weight... maybe even a Ford Ranchero hybrid future car? Either way, competition in the small light truck based vehicle market is always a good thing for consumers.

I like the concept of it, and a little competition is good. I could see it being really useful to some contractors like painters or electricians.. Finishers.. I can see it being a great second vehicle for homeowners, etc.

Somehow I don't think GM has the coordination or stones to bring something like that in its current state of affairs. But maybe someday!

You didn't see that it was an April Fool's joke?

Brings back some memories. Had an El Camino back in the mid 70's. Loved the car - so practicable, until the kids came along......
