I'm 64, my first car was a 69 GTO, so I understand power.

I'm 70, my first car was a '66 GTO, (but I wanted a '69 RAIV quite badly.) At $1.65/hour I couldn't afford a three-year-old GTO, let alone an RAIV.

I like my Maverick Hybrid. It's okay if other people don't. I'll just smile and wave...

One post shows that Marsh Gray was eliminated for 2027....I don't remember Marsh ever being a color option on a Maverick?? Maybe I missed that.

I was listed at start up for the Maverick but was canceled before production start. If they are comparing it to the first order guide for 2026 would be why it is showing. Light Blue wasn't on the first order guide for 2026 because it was added around job 2.

Not being political at all. I've been keeping up. During covid, the Biden admin gave tons of money to Ford to build electric. So I'd say that decision to go Electric came from the top

That's awesome . You had the BOAT GTO.. did they have the slapstick transmission back in 64? My uncle had a red 64 LeMans. I think they used the same body/frame.. I'm impressed. Always wanted a '64, but it never happened.. congratulations if you still own it

I like the concept of the hybrid powertrain for two reasons:

1) It places no burden on the power grid, which is increasingly stressed these days (thanks AI)
2) The electric motor supplements the IC engine, helping to reduce both fossil fuel usage and adding instant torque when starting from rest, to allow brisk acceleration.

I also like the fact that the powertrain is a "closed loop" system. Once fueled, everything you need to generate motive energy is on board. Admittedly, it is an intermediate step - a stop gap solution if you will - but one that will help pave the way beyond having to burn fossil fuels. We simply aren't there yet, and EV solutions are still immature, IMHO. (See reason #1 as well...)

I've been a "gearhead" since before I had my driver's license... long before actually. One thing I've learned in my seven decades on the planet is that rolling with the punches is less painful than being so stubborn you get punched in the nose. That philosophy played a part in my decision to purchase a Maverick Hybrid instead of a clean 1966 F100 with a 240 cu in inline six and a four speed manual transmission.

I still want a 1969 GTO Ram Air IV, in Verdoro Green please. I'd pay the extra $$$ for the equivalent of Sunoco 104 Octane fuel to keep the engine happy too. However, that solution isn't even close to being practical as a daily driver. (Plus, the RAIV cars didn't offer A/C as an option... mandatory where I live.) It's the reason why I do not drive my 1970 Skylark daily, even though it has A/C and doesn't require "high test" fuel.

So the Maverick, with its modern creature comforts and safety features, got the nod for being my new daily driver. The '66 F100 was very tempting, from an old gearhead's perspective. But sometimes you just gotta roll with the punches...

I'll bet the majority of people reading your post have no idea what a RAIV is, probably thinking you mis-spelled Rav4,,,,,,

Tim “Maverick Monday” Bartz mentioned in a Bronco video today that both EB engines in the Bronco Sport will not have auto start/stop in 2027. Nothing official yet for the Maverick EB he noted..

No... I'd love to still have that one... it was a '66, not a '64... my very first car. It was Nightwatch Blue... I'll see if I can dig up an old photo. The GTO and the LeMans did use the same frame. They didn't offer the "slapstick" in '66. My friend had a '67 with the "His and Hers" gated shifter. They'd accelerate like crazy, but heaven help you if you needed to stop quickly. Manual drum brakes - at least on my car - made for exciting times...
