The new 2025 EB is nearing the end of it’s first production year. So far, no recalls yay.

But a couple forum members have already had fuel delivery issues with the new Port/Direct injection system. The new 1.5 EB out of Hermosillo has already had a defective injector recall.

That said, Ford had reasons to add the new Port/Direct system - so MY 2024 and earlier should not take glee in the 2025 issues. Change your oil at least every 5000 miles like the engineers say in the small print. Don’t be fooled by Sales/Marketing who preach 10,000 to reduce the all important “Cost of Ownership” metric.

In addition, the 2025 EB added an aluminum valve cover instead of plastic. Don’t know why, but an oil change can’t hurt?
The Escape first had this new MPC 2.0 in the 2023 model year. So the engine has been in the Mav's platform for 3 model years now.

I do realize that. If I were in an Escape forum, however, I would still refer to the MPC 2.0 as the new engine. There are many forum members with the previous engine there also.

In our Maverick Forum, I think it is especially appropriate to call it the new engine. Calling it the “3 year old engine” or the “less old engine” or even the MPC 2.0 EB is a bit cumbersome.

Your point is valid, however. I think I’ll refer to it as the “latest engine” instead of new. A few more letters to type - but worth it to avoid any frustrations.

Of course not,iam talking the base xl, but you know that...trying to get a rise out of me 😆
No rise - just wanted to confirm the issue of comparing grapes to raisins was noted.

I'm guessing the Lariat would be the grape...

I recently bought a Job 3, 2025 2.0 L Ecoboost Lariat. I have a question. Many people that own 22 to 24 ecoboost have installed catch cans to reduce the carbon buildup on the intake valves.

so my question is, since I have the new style dual fuel injection system. is there still a need for catch cans? Right now I just plan to use a fuel additive that has PEA in it to dissolve any buildup that is forming every 5000 miles.

The 25 EB, in addition to adding port injection, has a new oil separator system that is much more effective than any aftermarket catch can. Some (every?) forum member who installed a catch can on the 25 EB have had issues. Forum Search can give you good info to consider…

In a nutshell - the new OEM oil separator puts the captured oil back in the oil pan where it belongs. No need to have an external aftermarket can to empty and lower your oil level:) A ford engineer posted that the new aluminum valve covers are also a part of the new oil separator system.

Thank you, that’s great information. I am going to try and find out how the new system works. I am hoping, like many others, that Ford finally has found a fix for this issue

Generally no you won't have to and if you use top tier fuel with the PEA additive pack you really don't even need the fuel additive.
