So perhaps they could give us the setup from the edge? I'm not against the 2.3, it's better than nothing. But I would be kinda disappointed if Ford made a performance maverick, and it "only" had like an additional 30-50 hp. That would definitely be noticable behind the wheel, no doubt, but I just want... more. Ford's at their best when they just go for it, the new mustang GTD, the raptors and broncos, the gt500 and gt350, the gt/gt40, the rs200, I love when Ford goes crazy.

I'm not saying I want some 60 grand maverick, rather, if the 2.7 7 speed can be offered in the edge st, which I believe was priced in the 40s, maybe they could offer it as like a 40k maverick.
If you want em to go crazy. How about the performance model comes in a crisscross if 2 variables. So 4 total options. 1 is drivetrain and 1 is chassis suspension. AWD with dual clutch rear diff is standard. This is available only on a Lariet or Platinum. So $40-60k max-maxed out. For the power options your 2 choices are a 360hp 2.3 Ecoboost Cobra Jet or a 400hp 2.3 Ecoboost Hybrid Green Jet. The other 2 options are 1.5" lift with extended Tremor shocks/struts, 245/65r17 AT tires, and all the other Tremor staples. The other option is 3/4" Front and 1/2" lowering springs, tuned shocks, larger sway bars, and a performance brake upgrade.

that would be nice and crazy along with all the other basic feature changes.

The Maverick truly has taking on a life of its own. After driving my Hybrid Lariat for 2000 miles, the three things I’d change on a new model is a plug in variant, platinum edition (scuff resistant door cards and power passenger seat, Homelink mirror, etc) and 4WD Hybrid.

I wan a larger hybrid battery, more power in the battery and tune the hybrid braking system. Don’t have my Mav but could go for the twice the hybrid battery.

And people wonder why the average car costs almost $50k these days…

hopefully the Maverick stays in it’s lane, continues to own the segment, and be so much to so many people. — entry level, young families, active adults, diy types, businesses, retirees, and so on.

The bigger infotainment from the Escape should be doable, as they put it in the Escape that ends up pricing a little under the Maverick for a similar trim.

Refreshes also aren't usually very extensive or expensive, and are just cosmetic updates mostly. For example, they might make the currently a bit overpriced IMO black appearance package standard. Color doesn't really cost anything after all.

Vehicles have always refreshed rapidly. All it took was one single year of planning... I mean, panicking... to shorten supply chains and increase dependability on outside sources even more than we already were. Sad to say it, but China certainly isn't have the problems the rest of the world is having with supply and demand right now. So it's really not about the cost of vehicles at all and more about the companies that control them as well as their interests in finding new ways to continue increasing profits while decreasing productivity (paid labor?). FORD has been expert level at this for a while now.

I mean, Jim doesn't even want to pay his workforce what they are worth and outright said it would make his company "unsustainable" by doing so. It's really all the evidence you need. Pair that with the already toxic tipping culture America relies on so consumers of goods can be blamed for service workers not being fairly compensated and you have where we are now. Basically everything America should have never been. 37% tax rate currently? Literal wars were started over 3% when this place was founded...

/rant about our shit economy

So refreshes really have nothing to do with it. They have always done that. Some models longer, some models shorter.

As long as it's not that ugly vertical one they attempt to use in other models. I think the Explorer is one of them? They look like someone who films too often in vertical mode stuck a used old tablet there.

The design the Escape has is nice, but the climate controls are integrated into the screen. That's a BIG NO GO for a lot of people. GM recently did the same thing with their lighting controls - like everything including fog lights - and people hate it. There really hasn't been a single positive comment about it on any forum from models that use it. RAM's are by far one of the worst too.

my vote:
1. Larger screen, lose the useless cubby
2. Option for a larger bed.
3. Ditch the bluish interor

You'll never see a larger bed. Major sheet metal revisions like that require new and very expensive government crash test certification, sheet metal stamping production, etc etc. Don't hold your breath. The Maverick is intended for city dwellers who wouldn't otherwise want or need a pickup, if you need a larger bed Ford wants you to purchase a more profitable Ranger or F150

True, the demand may not be there to justify developing an extended box. The other two are easy changes for Ford to make to address the common complaints heard here and elsewhere.

I think the original intention was to use the screen available in the more recent gen European Ford Focus. I think the bean-counters ruled that out. I'm not sure Ford will change that for 2025 given the fact that it's still selling well with the smaller screen. Personally I think the screen size is fine, I travel regularly for work and currently have a rental with a larger screen and I honestly don't see the benefit so if I were Ford accountants I would say keep the smaller screen. The blue interior? Who knows but I think it's better than having everything black and having it feel like an econo-coffin.

I agree that was probably their intent. The weird cubby next to the screen definitely makes it feel like a larger screen was intended to be there but a last minute decision was made to put a smaller one in. If that cubby weren’t there I probably wouldn’t focus on the size of the screen.
All black interior would be too dark but swapping the blue for a more neutral grey would make sense. The blue is a bad contrast with some of the configurations. The desert brown interior on the Lariat looks great on its own but out of place next to the blue.

Well, blue is a cool color and has calming and comforting affects from a color theory perspective so I'm sure there's a very specific reason they chose blue but I get what you're saying.

this. as it is, I wouldn't give it more than 50/50 chance that Ford will release a 6' bed in the Ranger and they have a test mule on the road right now. (plus the 19-23 ranger had a 6' bed option, and the new '24-up does not.)

I would be confident that the Maverick is not getting a longer bed option in the near term, or possibly ever.
