I'm thinking the grill change to reflect the styling of the F150 and new Ranger is something that is enviable and is likely something will happen. I don't think we will see any big changes in the powertrain and it will just be refresh. Considering the Hybrid powertain is the best selling version I don't think Ford would spend money of developing a 3.0 for the Maverick.

I'd also take a 2.3 or 2.7 if they go for, or a simple hybrid AWD. Tremor hybrid ? Hell yeah.

This is a direct quote from the Bronco Sport Forum. I thought the Santa Cruz guys were hard on the Maverick, but this is coming from Ford kin. I do have to confess that I'm a bit jealous when I see a Bronco Sport drive by. They got the better front end from day one.

"They could lose that ugly grill and do away with the jockstrap under the grill and headlights."

Bronco Sports' front end is very nice. The ONLY reason I snagged a 2021 Escape when I did was that the mileage was considerably better. I have the 1.5L EB in that and it's, well, adequate. Actually not bad. I wasn't ready to take the Hybrid leap yet.

My Escape regularly gets me low-mid 30s on highway driving, and I'm a bit of a leadfoot at times.

2.3L would be nice, but I don't think there's room under that hood for the 2.7. Still, the 2.3 is a pretty potent engine. I'd wonder if the entire structure and drivetrain wouldn't need to be beefed up for that.
