I don't know what could be wrong. Some good answers though from some of the guys/gals. I usually remote start it on a cold day, the defrost goes on than the heated seats and steering wheel. Then when I get in and turn the key the defrost goes off and then it comes through the vents as that was the last setting I had when I turned the key off, and I keep it at 72 so it just warms up and maintains that temperature. But I believe I use auto.

Unfortunately you don't really have full control over this. However, if you don't use auto, and only push the button that shows the arrow pointing at the figure's face, that will set the fan to blow through the dash vents. Then, you set the temperature knob close to the temperature inside the cabin, and set the fan at whatever level you want. This will ensure that you won't be directing air through the heater core for heat, and the compressor won't be running for A/C. This will basically be "vent", but the fan even on the lowest setting does turn slowly. From that point, you can slowly adjust the temperature and you can tell when you're getting heated or cooled air when you go to far.

This works at least for the EB. I know the hybrid systems can work a bit differently, so this is my disclaimer that it may not work for you. ;)
Thanks. That's pretty much what I do, though sometimes even low fan speed is more than I want.
If that's the biggest annoyance I can live with it!

Apologizes right off the bat as I have seen this topic before, but many boards do not like reopening old topics.

I'm puzzled when it comes to using the heat in my truck and I have only felt this way for a good two or three weeks. Right off the bat, I don't use the auto feature. I keep the blower on one and possibly two and the right dial (with temp indicator) set to 70 degrees and the flow right in the middle so you feel it on your hands. After I remotely start the vehicle and let it run for a bit, I get in and the blower is definitely higher than when I set it at one. The cab is comfortable and upon inserting the key and turning it, the blower drops down to the first light. After driving for a while things get weird. It seems as if I have really hot heat or cool heat and nothing in between. 67-75 degrees feels not even warm but not cold. Once I get to 76 or more you really feel heat. This is a 10k mile vehicle and the oil looks great and the coolant is right in the middle of min/max when up to temp. Am I reading into things almost compulsively or does this sound normal for this vehicle?
Remote start makes the climate system act weird. There is a setting in your cluster to have remote start climate control set to "last setting" or set to "auto temperature". I would check this setting and change it to see which works best of you. Like I said the remote start makes the climate control act odd. Once I start my maverick after remote starting it, I turn off the HVAC and turn it back on and it seems to fix some of the issues. Hope this helps.

My HVAC controls are possessed by demons. The recirculation button is always turning itself off when we're behind a diesel tractor, and it drives my GF nuts.

The HVAC has a humidistat and anytime the humidity inside the cab approaches the dew point the recirculate will be opened to let in air and/or to run the defrost cycle to lower the humidity. Try changing the temp setting to move the cabin temp higher a few degrees (warming air lowers relative humidity).

Just an update:

Before I started this topic, I did make an appointment with my dealership, and I did take the truck this morning. The mechanic asked me what was going on and the overall consensus was that climate control on these things can be very wacky. I was mainly concerned that a coolant leak existed and all was good. I did mention a few things from this topic about how the climate acts weird if you start the truck with the app and he said he's familiar with such claims and he agreed. He also said you really lack total control of this thing unlike the heating/cooling of years gone by.

I've kept it on auto (1st setting @70 degrees while it is cold) and it has worked perfectly. Sometimes you feel the vents as being a bit cooler but the cab remains comfortable. Clearly it is doing its job regulating the cab as close to the desired temp as possible.

Thanks for the suggestions.

You state 'while 70° is cold.'
Why not try 72° ? 🤣

I assume 1st setting is fan speed 1. Fan speed 2 works much better. The periodic diversion of some of air to compressor to dehumidify will not affect cabin temp as much.

Forget going to the dealer. Get yourself to your Doctor. You are going thru the change and you are having hot flashes. I am just kidding. I grew up when it was cold, you turned on the heater, set to defrost or dash/floor, set the fan where you wanted it, then slid the temp control to the hot until the engine warmed up and then adjust temp down to the point where you didn't have to crack the window to cool it down. In hot weather, you turn all that stuff off and push the wing glass until the outside air was where you could stand the temp. We also used the 4/70 air-con system. That's where you roll down all four windows and drive 70 mph. I set the Mav about the same way , up and down until it feels comfortable. If it's hot turn the AC on and play with the temp until it feels right to me. I am really not concerned about the automation, I am just happy it works. I am old.

I'm 70, I guess I old too.
I love the auto setting especially in the summer. Auto, 72°, fan speed #3 I let the truck work for me. The less futzing around the better. 😁

So on 3/21/2025 I will be 82 which means I have collected SS for 17 years. When I graduated HS a brand new house cost $12-$13/sq ft. (Price had gone up about $3/ sq ft because min wage had increased from $0.75 to $1.15). I will go with fan #3 temp 64° with seat on #1.

Watch your mouth! Wild Turkey is a hell of a lot cheaper and more easily accessible than seeing a doctor!

Believe me, I liked the days of a vertical lever for the blower speed followed by a horizontal level for temp and a/c and another for where the air flows! I guess simplicity is a memory.

Oh man,
I have a 25 XLT and I am clueless on the climate controls. If I have it on auto, nothing happens. I manually turn up the fan and then auto turns off. It seems the air changes where it comes out of automatically. This is beyond stupid. And I feel like an idiot with this whole thing.
Love the truck otherwise.
Bob
