2022 8f35 transmission problems

Has anyone had hard shifting problems? I have a 2022 2.0 EcoBoost with 8f35 transmission. Took it to dealership and they said it has metal shaving in fluid and through a po73d code. I think this is a factory defect but can't get any help from Ford to fix it

What is the code? are you sure is a PO73D?

P073D stands for "Unable to Engage Neutral." It is a powertrain diagnostic code indicating that your vehicle's Transmission Control Module (TCM) commanded the automatic transmission to shift into neutral, but the transmission failed to achieve or hold that position.

And did you ever change your 8F35's transmission fluid? How many miles are on it?

The search feature on this forum will take you to several ecoboost transmission threads. Yes, some others have had their transmissions replaced. Normally north of 50,000 miles, but not always. Doesn't seem to affect that many owners, but that's just anecdotal. We don't have any solid statistics.

I took it to AutoNation Ford in Panama City and that is what my service advisor said she also said they dropped the pan and saw the metal shavings in the fluid. It started with the hard shifting at 82,000 miles. No I have not had the fluid changed. The truck has 86,000 on it now

"dropped the pan" is concerning as that's not possible as there isn't one. You may want to get a second opinion.

Since you're out of warranty, there's really no reason to be at a dealer. Take it to a local shop.

This . Dealership until the warranty is expired. Then find a reputable repair shop to look at it after that.

I don't know anything about these new transmissions. I am used to driving older trucks and cars. All I can tell you is it felt like the transmission was slipping. Sometimes it doesn't want to pull in drive or reverse and sometimes it shutters. I love my truck and I have a lot of money invested in it and I can't afford a $12,000 dollar fix

Agree with others above, seek an independent shop with a good reputation. Good luck.

I have a 2023 2.0 as well and I felt the Transmission was shifting strange also and I took it to the Dealership I purchased it from and as usual they said there was nothing wrong. I was at the recommended mileage to service the transmission so I went ahead and did it. It still feels like it is shifting strange to me but they say it's fine ? Well I guess if the Transmission goes out I have an extended warranty.

Unfortunately I bought mine at a buy here pay here lot. I bought it because it is 4 years old and had 79,000 miles on it . Never thought this would happen. Glad you have extended warranty

Yikes! That lot probably bought it at auction because reputable dealers wouldn't sell it.
